About the Role
We have a unique opportunity for a Director of Finance to lead to lead, structure and scale finance initiatives across the company including FP&A, accounting, financial operations, and more. This role will collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies and analytics to enable business decision making while also providing comprehensive support to DocMatter's team on customer deals. This leadership position is instrumental in building the policies and procedures from the ground up, scaling the business and maintain the company's financial health as well as build a team of high-performing individuals on the finance team. As a growth company, DocMatter heavily relies on this finance leader and their team to influence the long-term direction and growth of the business through analytical insights and business acumen.
Responsibilities:
- Provide financial insights and advise the executive and leadership teams and drive initiative
- Drive building financial infrastructure, tools, and SOPs to create best in class accounting and financial reporting structures and help the company achieve its strategic and operational goals.
- Review and monitor accounting policies, processes and procedures and ensure compliance across business units.
- Develop business and SaaS metric forecast and tracking, partnering with functional leaders for budget and investment decisions.
- Develop a proactive approach in driving a financial decision, help developing KPIs and deliver insights that inform key decisions impacting growth, staffing, investment, and profitability (e.g., unit economics)
- Prepare Board materials that accurately present the company's financial position and highlight the key drivers of the business for strategic decision making
- Collaborate with sales and pricing teams on global deals and pricing analysis
- Work with cross functional leaders to create the annual plan and quarterly forecasts with high accuracy and efficiency for volume, revenue, and gross profit
- Support decision-making processes, by providing analytical insights and what if" scenarios
- Leverage insights and analysis to enable management decision making
- Understand business drivers and recommend measures to further improve results
- Establish efficient processes and standards for financial tools and activities
- Support day-to-day financial planning and reporting activities, including executive management reporting and financial budget and forecasts
- Attract, hire and retain a first-class FP&A team
- Set and advocate for a long-term vision of the function and the key talent within it
- Provide guidance, help team members prioritize and develop future leaders at DocMatter.
- Create scalable processes for handling both internal and external financial and operational matters
Requirements
- A minimum of 10+ years experience leading and building the financial function of a fast-growing company, ideally as an early member of a startup.
- The ideal candidate should possess a solid leadership background in finance and analytics functions, have demonstrated success in inspiring teams to solve problems and drive results.
- Strong analytical skills and creative approach to solving unstructured problems.
- Hands on finance and accounting experience at high-growth SaaS startup with deep understanding of relevant KPIs (e.g. ARR, LTV, CAC, Recurring vs. Non-Recurring revenue, etc.).
- Analytical rigor and an orientation toward data-driven management and decision making.
- Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems
- Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to drive profitable growth by improving visibility, forecasting, consolidation and analysis of results and key metrics while advising senior management on insights and recommended actions
- Skilled communicator who can build relationships across the organization to bring everyone along with critical business decisions.
- Bachelor's degree required. MBA or CPA strongly preferred
