Job Description

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an analytical, collaborative, and entrepreneurial spirited Director of Finance to join their dynamic team. This individual will oversee the accounting department and is responsible for the financial strategy, forecasting, budgeting, and management of transactional accounting functions for this fast-paced organization. This person will build commission structures which align with company goals, drive sales, and motivates employees. This role is also responsible for developing team members in the accounting department and managing relationships with banks and outside vendors. With the support of the accounting team, the Director of Finance will produce accurate and timely financial statements and reporting required by the owners, bank, and tax firm. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of competency in their field, solid decision-making abilities, and proven ability to contribute to the financial wellbeing of the company.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's cash flow with owner’s approval and ensuring adequate funds are available to meet financial obligations.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Create and implement financial plans and budgets aligning with company goals.
  • Develop financial models that support budgeting and forecasting for commission-related expenses.
  • Create commission structures aligning with company goals that drive sales and motivates employees.
  • Work closely with relevant departments to implement commission plans, ensuring they are communicated effectively to employees.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of commission structures and make improvement recommendations by analyzing sales performance data.
  • Ensure commission plans are in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including tax, labor, and employment laws.
  • Analyze financial data, providing insights and recommendations to other members of the leadership team.
  • Invest excess cash that will maximize returns while minimizing risk.
  • Ensure the company complies with all tax regulations and laws, working closely with the company's tax advisors to minimize liability.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to mitigate financial risk and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building commission structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including tax, labor, and employment laws.
