Job Description

The Director of Finance (US) is a senior role within the finance function of Learning Technologies Group (ā€˜LTG’). LTG is an acquisitive international business with a market capitalization of $850 million. The successful candidate will manage the US finance team and have responsibility for the accounting activities of the Group’s US and other international operations including those based in Germany, LATAM and Asia Pacific.Ā 

Primary responsibilities will include managing the finance function, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies and practices, preparing financial statements, assisting in managing tax compliance, overseeing accounting operations, managing the annual audit process and analyzing financial data to benefit the Group. It is expected that this role will evolve as the Group scales its operations.

This position reports to the UK based Group Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:Ā 

  • Manage the US finance operations based remotely in the US, overtime to re-centralise in Raleigh North Carolina. Manage employees based in Nashville, TN and one employee in Australia.Ā 
  • Establish, maintain and monitor internal controls and procedures.Ā 
  • Manage accounting activities in compliance with US GAAP / IFRS, statutory financial regulations and company policies and practices, ensuring sufficient knowledge of the detailed operations.Ā 
  • Manage and maintain oversight of external accounting teams in non-US territories.Ā 
  • Create procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurateĀ 
  • Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements as well as other management information requirements.Ā 
  • Provide technical accounting support and assess the impact of new accounting changes on the Group’s financial statements.Ā 
  • Manage tax accounting and coordination within the business and with the Group’s internal tax team.Ā 
  • Ensure operational banking is functioning smoothly with appropriate controls in place, working with the Group Treasury team to maximise cash returns.
  • Develop and implement cash forecasting to assist in Group cash managementĀ 
  • Work closely with other stakeholders in the business including business MDs, departmental heads and other Group finance teams.Ā 
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and regular forecasting for the Group’s US based Business Units and Central Services.Ā 
  • Oversee final implementation phases of NetSuite ERP system and continue system and reporting improvements.Ā 
  • Work closely with external auditors to support their annual statutory audit and other statutory audits required for other entities accounted for by the US finance team (e.g. UK, Germany, Hong Kong, Philippines etc.)Ā 
  • Participate in due diligence processes and business integrations.Ā 
  • Participate in the implementation of new company software impacting financial activities.Ā 
  • Mentor members of the accounting team to develop talent.Ā 

Requirements:Ā 

  • CPA (or equivalent) required with big four experience preferred.Ā 
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in technology industry required with at least 5 years in a similar role.Ā 
  • Prior experience running a finance function for a large multi-divisional and complex international organization.
  • Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to execute efficiently in a fast paced environment, whilst able to see the big picture.
  • A hands on, sleeves rolled up and action oriented approach is required to ensure success.Ā 
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP and exposure to IFRS preferred.Ā 
  • Strong organizational skills.Ā 
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to rationalize complex issues.Ā 
  • Strong people-management skills, with the ability to develop and mentor a large professional team.Ā 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with and build relationships across the business.Ā 
  • Strong technical skills including experience with NetSuite, SalesForce, Avalara preferred.Ā
