Director of FP&A

Who you are 

Seed is looking for a thoughtful and accomplished Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead our FP&A function. This person will be responsible for monthly reporting, quarterly re-forecasting, annual budget setting and ensuring that every decision at Seed is considered through a financial and ROI-focused lens. This person will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial information is clearly communicated back to the business and that operational  and strategic decisions are fed back into the company’s financial forecast to drive accurate projections and real-time decision making. This person will be responsible for recruiting and mentoring a team of equally thoughtful finance team members. The ideal candidate is equally adept at complex and thoughtful model building in excel as they are at strategizing and communicating financial principles to leadership and colleagues; this person is eager to make an impact – not only within our rapidly growing business but within microbial science – all in the interest of advancing human and planetary health. This role reports to the company’s SVP of Finance and can be remote within the United States.

What you’ll do

• Prepare monthly financials and budget versus actuals reporting for leadership and Seed’s board of directors
• Lead annual budget setting process and quarterly re-forecasts
• Own company operating model
• Collaborate with accounting team and Controller to drive continuous improvement and simplification of processes & procedures across the Finance function and within the broader organization
• Own subscription demand planning process in tandem with Growth Marketing and Supply Chain teams
• Provide monthly budget versus actuals to department heads and lead cross functional collaboration to drive data-driven, financially-minded decisions throughout the company
• Develop and improve on dynamic, scalable financial and operational models to support product development and category and product launches, product pricing and margin targets, and other key company initiatives and strategic decision making
• Identify and provide recommendations for  cost-saving opportunities across the business
• Hire and manage growing Finance team to support financial decision making throughout the organization

Your background

• 7+ years of experience in finance including 4+ years of experience in operational finance and FP&A roles at high-growth start-ups (ideally inventory-based subscription businesses)
• Advanced Excel and modeling experience required
• Operational knowledge of GAAP and accounting requirements relevant to our business
• Strong communicator
• Experience as part of implementation team for ERP (Netsuite) a plus 
• Experience with BI tools a plus

The annual pay range for this full-time position is $160k-$200k + equity + benefits across all US locations (this position is 100% remote-US). Our pay ranges are guided by discipline, level and experience required. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including: your specific location, desired skills/ technical competency, relevant experience and advanced education/ training.
