Director of Front End Engineering

About the Role 

We are looking for a technical professional who can lead the team that delights shoppers all over the world with great experiences and content created by Stylitics. This thought leader has a deep passion for UX/UI. They understand the latest trends and dive deep into JavaScript, CSS, and the frameworks enabling the best interfaces. We need a leader who can be in the weeds for triage and keep their head up enough to set direction, establish best practices, and future proof the front end.

What You Will Do

• Create experiences that amaze and delight shoppers online
• Technical ownership over:
• Stylitics embedded JS widget
• Web experiences
• Manage, hire, and develop the team that is responsible for all the Stylistics powered experiences on our client’s e-commerce systems. Our current team is small (4 members) but growing rapidly
• Write code!
• Collaborate effectively with product team, designers, and other engineers to analyze user needs and scope new feature development
• Balance client needs and feature development
• Have a strong opinion on priorities and opportunities working closely with product teams
• Set priority and roadmap for front end technology
• Guide proper system design and write PR reviews that elevate code quality
• Lead and influence our product development and delivery process / SDLC

Must-Have Qualifications

• 6+ years professional experience with software development
• Direct team management experience
• Deep understanding of best practices
• Modern JavaScript experience and proficiency
• Proficiency with modern CSS (or compile-to-CSS alternatives)
• A solid technical foundation with the ability to understand our architecture and system design
• Familiar with cloud architectures and service offerings

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• BS or equivalent advanced degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred
• Experience with 3rd party JS is a strong plus
• Experience with Svelte.js is a plus

Salary

When we find the right person, we try to put our best foot forward with an offer that excites you and is fair on our end. We consider the skills and experience you bring, what similar jobs pay and make sure there’s equal pay for equal work among those you’ll be working with. The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $150,000.00 - $200,000.00. The final offer also takes into account other factors of a total compensation package. Please note that the range is being shared in good faith and is subject to modification based on changing market and business conditions.
