Director of Hardware Engineering

The role, at a glance:

The Director of Hardware Engineering will lead the Engineering teams at Biamp that is responsible for the development and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems of our products. This role is responsible for planning and execution of the strategic roadmap laid out by the executive team. You will lead teams dedicated to mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, product regulatory compliance, and production test design.

As Director, you will either directly or indirectly oversee the employee journey of those who report into your group. You will create and evolve short and long-term staffing plans that align with product development, and be responsible for the continued development and coaching of your team.

How you’ll contribute: 

• Set and convey design principles, methodologies, and standards across asynchronous Engineering teams around the globe.
• Manage staffing roadmaps from hire to exit in alignment with business needs – including coaching, delivery of regular staff performance reviews, and ensure teams have access to the resources they need to successfully fulfill their job duties.
• Work cooperatively with peers and stakeholders in yours and other departments throughout Biamp. Additionally, establish and maintain good working relationships with vendors and other third party resource groups.
• Oversee established budgets, ensure investments in resources and technology are tracked and delivering to the standards required, and make recommendations for proper allocation of budgets on an annual basis.

A successful candidate should have:

• A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing teams, establishing process, and developing talent. At last 5 years’ experience managing managers.
• Experience interfacing with captive and outsourced manufacturing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for varied audiences, including engineers, executives, and customers.
• Strong analytical skills in support of problem solving and quick decision making.
• Hands-on experience in delivering a market-ready final product.
