Aspire Living & Learning is seeking a Director of HR Operations to join our team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals. The Director of HR Operations is both a strategic and hands-on role leading and facilitating the planning and execution of multiple functions. Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, the Director will oversee the management of the human resources information system (HRIS), and benefits and leave administration functions. This individual will develop and implement benefits strategies, policies and programs, and be accountable for the effective and consistent resolution of employee benefits-related issues. The Director will partner with leadership on various initiatives and will manage a team of human resources operations staff.
Candidate MUST reside in CT, MA, MD, NH or VT to be considered for the role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute benefits strategies, policies and programs in accordance with human resources and organization strategies.
- Analyze and monitor internal processes for efficiency. Responsible for process improvement, including evaluating existing systems and procedures, providing recommendations for changes and improvements, and implementing changes.
- Oversee benefits and leave administration activities within the organization.
- Responsible for overseeing the management and administration of all employee benefit plans and wellness programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, life, disability, supplemental plans, flexible spending accounts, HSA, COBRA, workers compensation and 403(b).
- Ensure that all administrative forms, reports, processes, and audits are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with the organization’s policies, and state, federal and local laws and regulations related to benefits.
- Oversee employee records maintenance.
- Assist in workers compensation and settlement negotiations.
- Oversee the management of the UltiPro/UKG human resources information system (HRIS).
- Ensure HRIS data integrity, reporting and management. Oversee HRIS upgrades and update planning.
- Oversee the development of reports for HR systems, involving employee data including but not limited to: hiring & selection, turnover, performance, pay, employee engagement, training, EEO, etc.
- Prepare, collect and organize data for annual plan audits and reporting.
- Oversee the completion and accuracy of compliance requirements such EEO-1, AAP, etc.
- Strategize on and set up structure for annual open enrollment process.
- Assist in the development of open enrollment communications and education.
- Process vendor invoices.
- Manage periodic audits of benefit plans and processes.
- Prepare budgets, reports and presentations.
- Lead, direct and manage the HR operations staff.
- Research and keep up to date on industry trends; utilize vendor admin systems to create reports and analyze utilization rates and other information.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or relevant field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing benefits and leave administration functions, and human resources information system (HRIS).
- At least three (3) years of experience in a leadership role supervising human resources and/or benefits administration staff.
- Deep knowledge of benefits-related programs, policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Experience with plan administration for 403(b) or other retirement plan.
- Proven ability to develop and implement efficient benefits strategies, policies and programs.
- Experience providing effective and consistent resolution of employee benefits-related issues.
- Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including One Drive, Outlook, SharePoint and other applications.
- Hands-on experience with UltiPro/UKG or other HRIS.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including leadership, influencing and relationship building.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational and time management skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Physical and Other Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to stand for long periods of time on occasion.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Use of specific equipment.
- This position may occasionally require both business day, overnight and out-of-area travel.
