As the Director of Public Cloud Cost Optimization at JPMorgan Chase, you will be responsible for working with Finance & Business Managers, Architecture & Engineering and Production & Infrastructure team, specifically focused on Public Cloud cost avoidance/optimization and reducing technical debt.
Working the Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) business unit, you will design and implement a cost optimization function that defines and implement technical best practices, analyzes and optimizes application implementations, promotes continuous improvement through the systemic adoption of new releases and technologies, and provides transparency to the management on the overall Public Cloud usage, savings opportunities, and achievement of results. This role will also manage the CCB Public Cloud feature and blocker process, where requests are triaged, prioritized, and resolved.

Job responsibilities
- Become a trusted advisor for CCB Product teams on Cloud Cost Optimization best practices
- Support technologists in maximizing cloud variable spend by applying rightsizing, scheduling and serverless options
- Leading calls to keep stakeholders informed, providing insights and suggested course of actions
- Evangelize well architecture frameworks
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of cloud technologies and services, agile methodologies and IT operations
- Partner with financial and billing teams on capacity planning, budgets, and forecasts
- Helps establish an evergreen process for optimizing technical debt and technology updates
- Drive quality assurance efforts, ensuring that programs adhere to approved set of processes, policies, and standards
- Support stakeholders in understanding cloud spend to budget based on business roadmap and execution
- Perform operation research and quantitative study on application portfolio spend patterns to derive insights that can inform strategic and operational decisions
- Manage a process for development teams to submit public cloud feature requests and blockers
- Dive deep to understand and validate the requests, prioritize the needs, define options, and work with global technology partners to deliver solutions
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 7 + years of hands-on AWS experience (Solution Architect/Engineer)
- Ability to write scripts and infrastructure as code (IAC) to interrogate the provisioned cloud resources
- Ability to understand detailed architecture diagrams to provide insight and solutions in response to feature requests or blockers
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent experience
- Experience developing and motivating team members in a federated or contribution delivery model
- Able to think strategically, execute surgically, prioritizing multiple tasks or agenda under pressure
- Ability to analyze cloud data/bills and help identify anomalies
- Able to analyze and produce meaningful insights from large, complex datasets
- Strong organizational skills, good judgment, fact based and decision-making ability
- Able to influence others across multiple functional areas to lead change
- Collaborative and participative style
- Able to contextualize abstract or complicated or new concept across all levels of stakeholders
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience in FinOps principles, capabilities and the AWS Well Architected "Cloud" Framework
- Cloud experience (GCP, AWS, and Azure)
- Experience with AWS cost optimization capabilities: budgets, saving plans, enterprise discounts, trusted advisor, reservations, spot instances, reserved instances, etc.)
- Experience with FinOps Tools (Cloudability, CloudHealth, etc.)
- Working knowledge in hybrid cloud or multi cloud infrastructure financial management or migration execution
- Support stakeholders in understanding cloud spend to budget based on business roadmap and execution
