THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Director of Inspections, Position Description Number D2898000 and is part of the 158th Fighter Wing Inspector General of the Vermont Air National Guard.

Conditions of Employment
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in the Vermont Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Vermont Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1 2 3 4
Area I: All current On-board Permanent and Indefinite Dual Status 32 and Title 5 (Competitive and Excepted) Technicians (Tenure: 1-Career, 2-Conditional, 3-lndefinite) - Only those Vermont National Guard members who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed.
Area II: All Members of the Vermont Air National Guard.
Area III: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the VTNG, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state's National Guard.
Area IV: All individuals able to and willing to become members of the Vermont National Guard including prior service not currently assigned to a military component and non-prior service US civilians.
Military Rank/Grade: Officer: 1Lt./O2 through Lt. Col/O5
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Expert knowledge of Inspector General Program principles and practices related to federal civilian, military, and National Guard, operational, administrative and technical programs.

Work experiences involved applying an extensive knowledge of National Guard operations to direct complex strategic planning efforts and participate in the establishment of program criteria to measure and/or predict the attainment of organizational goals and objectives.
Education
Must have at least 36 months experience in planning and scheduling work in a manner that promotes smooth flow and even distribution of assigning work requirements. Experienced in training and guiding employees on programs and through assigned tasks. Experienced in balancing office case work-loads and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of policies, investigative requirements, inspection formats, exercise strategies, strategic planning, and administrative issues. Experienced in structuring assignments to create effective and efficient procedures that resulted in measuring improved task processes. Previous supervisory experiences created improvements in training applications and career development that resulted in the employees' increased performance values in quality work, timeliness considerations, and work efficiencies. Demonstrated experiences or endorsements on mentorship competencies provided to employees. Must have working knowledge of equal employment and affirmative action programs.
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is MANDATORY. The degree work should include completed academic courses in business management, English grammar and composition, speech, statistics, public administration, human resources administration, organizational development, public administration, behavioral social sciences, and psychology. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.

--IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF, and National Guard Bureau regulations. Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment.
--This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Preยญemployment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
