Investor Relations Director

The Investor Relations Director builds on and expands Southern Bancorp's strong reputation and networks in the investing market and is responsible for investor relations and stakeholder engagement, including market positioning. This position serves as the lead for creating opportunities through to execution of funding that will support the strategic growth of Southern Bancorp using a variety of investments that include, but are not limited to, equity, debt, mezzanine, grants, and mission deposits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships across industry to identify and act on investment opportunities
  • Develop and execute relationship plans for new and existing funders, investors, and shareholders
  • Responsible for preparation of marketing materials, proposals/pitch documents and private placement memorandums
  • Execute on fundraising activities across the full range of investment needs
  • Serve as liaison with company leadership to identify company-wide funding needs and funding strategies to support business units
  • Support the organization's market position through speaking engagements and written thought pieces
  • Develop and manage investor relations department, including setting department strategy, goals and policies
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong commitment to Southern's mission: to create economic opportunity in underserved communities by providing responsible, responsive, and innovative financial products and services that balance profits with purpose
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in investing and/or raising funds in traditional and nontraditional channels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial institutions and how they are funded
  • Demonstrated business development and relationship building skills, both externally and internally
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Relations or Communications and at least 6-8 years of progressive experience in investor relations, communications, relationship management or nonprofit development, or an equivalent combination of experience and related advanced degrees. Must also have three years experience managing a team
  • Ability to operate independently and strategically as leader of a new function
  • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills. Must be able to present ideas, concepts, and technical strategies on an individual or group basis
  • Must possess and maintain current and valid driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
