Director of Learning & Development
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Learning & Development will lead efforts to build and scale robust learning and development programs serving over 5,000 employees. A creative, hands-on role with leadership responsibility. The Director of L&D will direct all training development work and build a strategic road map focused on creating lasting, evolving programs that meet the business's needs and fuel a culture of learning. In addition, this seasoned leader will apply learning methodology and be accountable for developing a deep understanding of the business to create training programs that evolve, develop, and drive the broader talent management strategy for the organization.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acts as an effective people manger; supporting morale, engagement and career development.
- Facilitates planning, budgeting, and resource deployment for learning and development team and initiatives.
- Sets direction and manages the instructional design processes.
- Builds and sustains lasting relationships with business leaders
- Conducts Training Needs Analysis to identify and prioritize company learning needs.
- Generates a deep understanding of business demands and facilitates partnerships that enable successful learning outcomes.
- Builds and leads the team to establish and execute learning strategy that supports business and talent management priorities - from learning needs assessments through new program development, including contributions to program evaluation, and program sustainment or enhancement.
- Identifies strong external vendors in the marketplace, establishes relationships with them, and deploys them as needed to drive win-win solutions for customers and the department.
- Effectively balances insourced and outsourced learning solutions and makes sound business decisions based on critical factors (e.g., current workloads, budgets, capabilities).
- Leverages best learning practices, standards, and processes to ensure that value is created through development and deployment of work products.
- Has a track record of designing, developing, and implementing high impact learning solutions, using a variety of innovative approaches.
- Ability to effectively facilitate learning solutions and train the trainer sessions as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Organizational Development, Leadership, Adult Learning, or related field strongly preferred.
- 8-10 years of Learning and Development experience in roles responsible for organizational development, leadership and people development, and experience working with remote locations.
- Experience and applied knowledge of instructional design and eLearning methodologies and tools.
- Project management experience.

- Professional curiosity, self-starter, ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and integrate with the broader HR team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong technical/professional expertise in the areas of learning and executive development, organizational development, consulting, and learning/instructional design.
- Strong project management skills, including a proven track record of leading larger, complex projects using standard project management practices and tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and consulting skills.
- Ability to assess needs, influence, collaborate, deliver and partner at with all levels, including senior leadership.
- Strategic, enterprise-wide and systems thinking.
- Organizational astuteness and agility.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to deliver a well thought-out strategy and accurate product/presentation.
- Formal presentation and facilitation skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and/or organizational needs
- Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel
- Instructional design and experience applying the ADDIE methodology required
- Experience working with a learning management system (LMS), Cornerstone preferred.
- Knowledge of = learning authoring tools and learning applications, preferably Articulate Storyline 2, Camtasia and GoAnimate
- Able to travel up to 15% of the time
