Director of Mail Operations

The Director of Mail Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of direct mail operations within Baesman. This position has direct oversight of both the data processing manager and the lettershop & finishing operations manager with a current combined team of approximately 35 people. This role reports to the VP of Operations and will work as a liaison between account management and production, performing as the subject matter expert for clients and teammates for direct mail programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversight of data operations to ensure accuracy and data security.

• Oversight of lettershop operations mailing over 100 million pieces per year.
• Vendor relations: co-mingling facilities, freight companies, USPS.
• Customer involvement as needed for new package consultation .
• Budgeting and cost controls.
• Meeting production targets and improving efficiency.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings, reviewing current department performance and suggested improvements.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Experience with mail file processing; lettershop operations management; co-mingling of mail; postal and direct mail logistics.
• Expert knowledge of postal regulatory standards governing mail piece design and preparation requirements for standard, first class and parcel direct mail.
• Possesses strong financial acumen with working knowledge of business and accounting functions.
• Management experience in a high security facility processing sensitive material such as HIPAA or other regulated information.
• Working knowledge of BCC Mail Manager Postal presort software including associated software (CASS, Presort, NCOA, USPS DMM).

Requirements:

• 7+ years of work experience in a direct mail/commercial print management role.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
• Able to operate effectively and independently in fast-paced and high energy environments.
• Proven leadership ability in creating a positive work culture.
• Track record for establishing goals and creating accountability for goal achievement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective computer skills; knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Strong planning and analytical skills.
