As the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible in delivering quality products supporting the aggressive company goals for growth and profitability. You will lead a dynamic team, managing all manufacturing and supply chain activities through the development, deployment, monitoring and improvement of key process indicators (KPI). In this role, you will work cross-functionally with our key supply chain partners, engineering and operations teams, interfacing with Hardware, Software, Quality, Field Service Engineering, and Product teams to ensure aggressive production ramp-up goals are being met.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, plan and deploy all activities required to scale-up production capacity 3 to 5 x current level within 12-18 months including:
      • Planning and budgeting activities 
      • Staffing and training execution plan
      • Leading, motivating, developing, and promoting company culture
      • Deployment of strategic outsourcing partner(s) combined with possible in house final integration
      • Scale-up build and test methods to ramp production while continuously improving product quality
  • Implement MRP infrastructure to drive all material activities including:
      • Forecast and material planning
      • Procurement
      • Inventory management
      • Vendor relationship and quality control
      • Inbound and outbound logistic
  • Expand Manufacturing Engineering capability to:
      • Increase sub-assembly test coverage 
      • Improve build efficiency
      • Improve product quality (zero out of box failure)
      • Reduce manufacturing cycle-time
      • Develop detailed requirements (DFX: Design for…) for next generation product
  • Consolidate supply chain and develop right size, best in class vendor-partners
      • Negotiate supply agreements for critical “components”
  • Roll out cost reduction plan 

Requirements:

  • Shall demonstrate relevant experience in scaling up production of high tech products in a fast growth trajectory while maintaining agility of a startup to react to the ever changing market needs.
  • Must have experience in material management including sizeable implementation of an MRP system from and home grown manual planning environment.
  • Must possess an engineering mindset to lead manufacturing engineering (build and test) activities focused on efficiency and quality through deployment of best practices such as lean manufacturing principles always in a safe environment.
  • Should have participated in the development of an outsourcing strategy and executed the deployment of such transition from insourced manufacturing.
  • Should be able to articulate successful demonstration in negotiating Supply agreements with strategic vendors
  • Has a track record in successfully influencing, and leading R&D organizations towards cost reduction and next generation road-map
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or similar discipline
  • 10+ years manufacturing complex electromechanical products at scale in the robotics, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or medical device industries.
  • Able to comfortably and effectively operate in a startup environment while being aware of important industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively using excellent written and verbal skills with all levels of an organization
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Can-do attitude and emotional intelligence
