DIRECTOR OF MEDIA PLANNING
Objective of the Role:
As a Director of Media Planning you will be responsible for planning and executing multi-million dollar cross-channel media campaigns and will own all day-to-day logistics for the planning cycle across multiple clients. In this client-facing role, you will build and maintain strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor. You will be owning all direct deal relationships in addition to working closely with DELVE's Programmatic, SEM, Social, Ad Ops, Analytics, Consulting, and Program Management teams to bring omni-channel campaigns to life. Additionally, you will be responsible for staying up to speed on new publisher offerings and educating clients, team members, and key stakeholders on new capabilities and channels worth further exploration. The Director of Media Planning reports to the Head of Media.
Principal Duties:
- Lead cross channel and full funnel media strategy and planning efforts across key assigned client accounts ranging from $50k-$5MM+ per quarter, successfully balancing media performance and team profitability
- Team Leadership - direct management of 1-2 direct reports with potential to build out Media Planning Team/Practice at DELVE. Indirect leadership and mentorship of additional internal team members on key client accounts.
- Be a Trusted Advisor to DELVE clients and internal teams.
- Have a passion for leading others towards efficient value-creating outcomes, especially in the face of ambiguity.
- Act as day-to-day contact with direct deal partners to ensure campaigns launch on time, tracking and reporting needs are met, and optimizations are made in order to improve performance and meet KPIs; Direct Deal partners may include (but are not limited to) Digital Display and Video, CTV/OTT, OOH, Radio/Audio, Print, and TV channels.
- Manage aspects of creative operations inclusive of (but not limited to) gathering creative specs, communicating with client contacts to receive and deliver creative assets, and receiving client approval on creative deliverables.
- Create insertion orders and negotiate NDAs/MSAs to ensure vendors adhere to necessary contract terms.
- Own cross-channel pacing, budgeting, and reporting for live campaigns in partnership with Programmatic, SEM, Social, and Reporting teams.
- Recommend optimizations based on current performance and campaign insights.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8+ years of media planning experience in an agency setting on digital and full-funnel campaigns with KPIs ranging from Brand Awareness to ROAS
- 5+ years leading the "client experience" (at least 2 years in agency setting) from strategy development, research, and campaign optimizations to weekly performance reviews/insights/recommendation, QBRs, and 1:1s with client leadership.
- 5+ years leading a digital media team of 2+ specialists, account managers, and analysts in delivering high quality service for clients with monthly average 6-7 figure budgets.
- 2+ years leading the expansion of a Digital Media business unit (upsell, cross-sell, and new business) through expert pre-sales consulting and RFP response development (in partnership with a sales/business development team)
- Proven track record of:
- building, inspiring, and coaching a team of digital media professionals in executing performance-focused campaigns with maximum operational efficiency;
- leading the realization of commercial value through the expansion of business unit media capabilities;
- driving profitable business growth by becoming a trusted advisor to external VP+ level marketing business stakeholders and industry partners (agencies and technology companies).
- Technology & Industry Expertise
- Deep knowledge of all digital media channels as well as strong network of direct partner contacts and expert knowledge of when/why/how to use them.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of most of of the following: DV360, TheTradeDesk, Amazon DSP, Google Ads, Bing / Microsoft Ads, SA360, Meta/Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture, Brandwatch, Google Data Studio, and Tableau.
- Experience working with Google Campaign Manager as an ad server.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience leading a distributed global team spanning 8+ time zones.
- 2+ years experience in hands-on management of Social, Programmatic, or SEM campaigns
- Demonstrable expertise in at least 2 industries (e.g., travel, non-profit, e-commerce, mobile gaming, financial services, etc.)

Salary range for this position is $(130k - 180k) plus a bonus potential and is based on prior experience and qualifications.
