Organizational Overview
About Fresh is a Boston area nonprofit on a mission to strengthen communities by getting healthy food to the households that need it most. Our programs are built to be integrated into community health systems and are designed to scale with our partnerships and emerging opportunities. About Fresh currently operates two programs:
- Fresh Truck mobile markets bring affordable, healthy food to Boston neighborhoods;
- Fresh Connect is a prepaid debit card and analytic platform that enables healthcare providers to cover the cost of healthy food for patients and measure related health impacts.
Position Description
About Fresh is searching for a Director of Operations to join the Leadership Team and oversee the day-to-day activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. This includes leading the development of all internal systems except Finance, especially Information Technology, People & Culture/HR, and internal communications. Responsibilities also include managing external vendors related to those priorities, supporting facilities management, and establishing standards and best practices within the organization. Salary range: $105,000-$115,000, annually + generous benefits
Supervisory Responsibilities:Ā
- Supervise and develop our Administrative Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and evaluate internal operations and procedures.
- Implement policies and procedures that strengthen day-to-day operations, reinforce organizational culture, improve the staff experience, and increase job satisfaction.Ā
- Ensures work environments are adequate, clean, and safe.Ā
- Sustain and strengthen an organizational culture this is diverse, equitable, and welcoming; and infuse all aspects of organizational experience with those values.Ā
- In collaboration with the Leadership Team, develop, communicate, and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to staff, utilizing a variety of communication styles and media.
- Develop, in close collaboration with staff, internal communication and collaborative systems and norms that improve efforts across functional teams, produce smoother, more efficient workflows, and further strengthen team cohesion.Ā Ā
- Seeks, identifies, establishes and manages vendor relations in the areas of People & Culture, HR, and IT
- Runs processes for employee performance review, salary adjustments, and organizational planning, including an annual employee engagement survey.
- Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, vendors, other stakeholders, and the community.Ā
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business operations and rapid organizational growth;
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Ā
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, Asana,Ā or similar software.Ā
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational development, operations, personnel management or a related field. A masterās degree in such fields would be a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years experience working in an operations role and a minimum of five years in a management or leadership capacity.
Physical Requirements:Ā
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- This is a hybrid role, requiring at least 50%Ā time on-site at our locations in Boston, MAĀ
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
