About the Role
With an ambitious strategic plan to expand the companyβs scale, capabilities, and client base, there is an immediate need to add a Director of Operations, Brokerage. We currently seek an experienced Director who will develop and lead our brokerage division to provide us the ability to service our current clients on a much greater scale by utilization of partner carriers in addition to our own assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership for the truck brokerage operation
- Assess current transportation management system for effectiveness; make recommendations for more efficient software if necessary
- Recruit and mentor employees while growing the department
- Manage team performance using a range of KPIβs and other operational and financial measures
- Grow and enhance carrier-customer relationships
- Manage utilization, buy-to-market, profitability, productivity, service, and efficiency metrics
- Oversee development and management of outside-carrier networks to efficiently move freight
- Develop truckload planning processes to optimize line haul schedules
- Manage the building of lanes to improve on-time service and reduce costs
- Manage delivery performance and prepare margin/cost analysis
- Liaise with sales and account management teams to cultivate and onboard new customers
Requirements
- 5 yrs of freight transportation experience managing freight brokerage operations
- Experience with the truckload planning process required
- Prior experience developing a team/department from the ground up preferred
- Transportation management systems or truck brokerage software experience required
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced growing company where you take on multiple responsibilities, executing at both the strategic and tactical level
- Self-directed, highly motivated, entrepreneurial minded, proven sales professional with high integrity & exceptional work ethic
- Strong core value system to align w/ company culture, mission, & leadership
- High attention to detail
- Strong sense of urgency
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
- General knowledge of DOT compliance and regulations
Compensation: $150-185k
