About the role: As the Director of People Operations, you will help Vivvi become THE best place for educators to pursue their careers. You will impact the lives of hundreds of educators (and therefore thousands of children and families) by building the HR infrastructure and organizational culture to support our valued educators and broader team.
You’ll join a small but mighty People function as the fifth team member and will be a trusted partner to the SVP of People, Heads of School, teachers, and leadership. Responsibilities
As the Director of People Operations, you will…
- Act as an active and visible HR Partner to Vivvi’s campuses and other programs and provide input, strong influence, and counsel on HR-related matters to successfully build culture and mitigate risk
- Spend 2-3 days per week as a visible presence on Vivvi’s NYC campuses to support strong culture, relationship building, coaching of Heads of School, and effective people operations
- Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion company-wide across the employee lifecycle through goal setting and best-practice implementation
- Create and implement key HR initiatives related to employee experience and engagement
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators across the HR function
- Own and build upon total rewards programs including compensation frameworks and health, retirement, tuition, and other benefits
- In partnership with the People Operations Associate, own the execution of employee onboarding and offboarding, payroll approval and adjustments, workers compensation and various leave claims, and day-to-day employee HR needs
- Own employee data and reporting in partnership with People Operations Associate
- In partnership with the Senior Vice President of People. audit and implement all HR policies and practices across existing and new programs including federal, state, and local compliance and leave administration
- Serve as primary point of contact for matters of employee relations
- Support performance management and professional development initiatives
Requirements
You will be set up for success in the Director of People Operations role if you have…
- 7+ years of experience in an HR capacity ideally focused on the development of impactful HR policies, procedures, and processes
- 3+ years of experience managing and/or mentoring more junior members of HR staff
- Excellent relationship management skills; ideally some experience with mediation or general employee relations matters
- Expertise in matters of payroll, benefits, compensation, and compliance
- Proven ability to develop and leverage key performance indicators to define success and promote continuous improvement
- Commitment to the mission and values of Vivvi
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong influence and conflict resolution skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work onsite in NYC 3 days per week
- Candidates must possess independent US work authorization.

- Target annual compensation of $131,000 to $150,000 ($110,000-$125,000 salary, $21,000-$25,000 potential bonus)
