Director of Pharmacy (Infusion TPN)
Job Description
SUMMARY
Our Client is responsible for a wide range of services to patients. The operation is specialized and responsible for sterile preparations, parenteral nutrition, supplies, prescription and select over the counter medications for long-term home care patients. Manages personnel, oversees clinical services and daily operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. The DOP will be a registered pharmacist. See Pharmacist Job Description for other duties as assigned.
β’ The Director of Pharmacy has ultimate responsibility and oversight of the pharmacy including: facilities, operations and employees.
β’ Ensures all licenses, accreditations, certifications, and policies and procedures are in good standing with state boards of pharmacy, ACHC and other governing bodies.
β’ Maintain best-in-class patient satisfaction by overseeing all communication and shipments to patients.
β’ Ensures that the warehouse is maintained as a safe, clean, organized and efficient operation.
β’ Responsible for maintaining Gross Margin at the facility level including: material costs, pharmacy wages and freight.
β’ Responsible for reviewing vendor purchase agreements before submitting to corporate.
β’ Monitors all sterile compounding, technician, and shipping schedules, from entering accurate prescriptions into the electronic medical record system resulting in label and worksheet generation and record keeping.
β’ Maintains an appropriate inventory level of all critical supplies and materials. β’ Coordinates the daily sterile compounding and distribution operations.
β’ Directs pharmacy employees engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
β’ Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
β’ Acts as Quality Assurance and Improvement Coordinator. Responsible for development and implementation of the Performance Improvement (PI) program.
β’ Other duties may be assigned at any time via verbal or written instructions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Has oversight of all pharmacy employees. Oversees all regular operations meetings. Supervises and coordinates the activities of all pharmacy employees to ensure efficiency, accuracy, thoroughness, productivity, and professionalism.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and applicable employment laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; OR four to ten years related experience and/or training in hospital pharmacy experience or clinical pharmacy residency; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Maintains professional competence through professional organizations and continuing education. Participates in periodic educational opportunities. Contributes to the education of peers and the nutrition support literature via professional presentations and publications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, consumers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Mental stability and the ability to get along with coworkers are essential functions of the job, without which an employee is not qualified.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Pharmacy License with respective State Board of Pharmacy. A valid driverβs license is required, and employees must be able to provide proof of personal auto insurance if requested. Verification of continuing education units as required by the respective State Board of Pharmacy.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
