Job Overview

Right Networks is looking for a Director of Product Data Engineering to help our Technology organization design, implement, and operate a data warehousing system across our product systems to facilitate more advanced analytical capabilities into our tech stack, accelerating the delivery of data intelligence to our customers. This person will be responsible for the product technology organization and systems which provide this customer value, and is expected to lead and evangelize in this space, while partnering with other key leaders in supporting the wider set of capabilities we bring to market.

This role is a remote work position, with quarterly travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Data Engineering function while working closely with Product, Technology, and IT teams to create best in class data solutions
• Create, socialize, and execute a data platform strategy to meet business needs
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Commercial, People, Finance) to align business priorities to engineering investment
• Create, maintain, and oversee a delivery roadmap which supports product features, infrastructure, and support initiatives
• Create and govern policies and processes that ensure data quality
• Manage daily operations of the data technology systems underpinning our technology platform
• Recruit, hire, and on-board staff in support of aggressive Right Networks growth targets
• Guide the development of Data Analytics, Data Science, and Data Engineering roles inside the organization
• Manage vendor relations with third-party applications for data platforms
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and balance engineering debt investment
• Lead and mentor team to thrive and grow in their roles
• Assist in the development and maintenance of budgets related to data systems

Requirements

• Deep understanding of data systems, analytics architectures, and cloud solutions in the data space
• 7+ years of software, data, or system engineering or architecture experience
• 3+ years of technology people leadership experience
• Experience leading a distributed engineering team composed of employees and contractors
• 4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or similar field
• Proven technology leader who has built, scaled and managed high performing teams, instilling confidence, focus and collaboration
• Experience with modern web application systems and cloud technology
• Experience with the Atlassian product suite including Jira, Confluence
• Experience delivering with modern technology solutions including Cloud services, microservices, containerization, data streaming, data warehouses and business intelligence platforms
• Experience in organizational and technical decision-making with contributions that consider growth, cost, margin, time-to-market, quality and future readiness
• Experience leading and executing data governance, data quality, and data cleansing on a data platform
• Experience selling or offering a new data platform including driving training and adoption
• Extensive knowledge of data architecture principles and practices including data models, policies, rules, and standards
• Experience in product ownership or deep understanding and comfort with product ownership practices
• Thrives in an agile, collaborative, and distributed environment
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner and influence across teams
• This role will require some travel in support of team and leadership objectives, approximately once per quarter
• Ability to successfully operate and lead independent of direct oversight
