Job Description

The Director of Product Engineering will manage the Software Engineering and Quality Assurance organizations to build, maintain and innovate on our product solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of modern software engineering architectures & Agile best practices combined with strong people management capabilities. The role requires close collaboration and partnership with all levels to deliver software solutions that will empower our customers as well as support them with their ongoing needs. The position calls for the development and cultivation of a strong technology & engineering culture across teams that are both in-house as well as offshore.

  • Manage all in-house engineering teams & outside vendors across Software Development and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure that security & technical requirements are clearly articulated integrated, and utilized into the day to day work of the team.
  • Work closely with the VP and Chief Technology Officer to determine the overall roadmap, engineering estimates, scope, budget, and resource plans
  • Develop a highly performant engineering operating model and SDLC following Agile methodologies, processes, and best practices
  • Work with architects to define and drive technical strategy, build-buy-partner frameworks and key modernization initiatives to improve performance and scalability of products
  • Evolve a distributed engineering organization including driving talent acquisition to expand in-house technical resources
  • Deliver risk assessment, management, and mitigation plans associated with ongoing product releases
  • Manage all aspects of software lifecycle from requirements definition through software release including documentation, test planning and execution, software maintenance, architecture development and design, debugging, implementation, and integration
  • Delivers secure coding solutions using the latest industry standards and tools, following coding templates and reusable patterns to ensure quality, maintainable, extendable and reusable deliverables, including devOps/QA automation
  • Build a strong team culture centered around excellence, ownership, accountability and transparency.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Operations to ensure strategic and tactical success.
  • Help establish OKRs for the Engineering team and ensure we execute against them.
  • Establish a methodology for evaluating new technologies and identifying what/when we bring into our product development.


Qualifications:
  • B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering and technology management experience with a minimum of 3+ years in an established leadership role overseeing large scale IT budgets and initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience successfully managing, leading and developing a team of technical professionals required
  • Experience with cloud application development platforms, tools and utilities
  • Evidence of professional achievement in business transformation thru strategic use of technology preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the software development policies, procedures, and practices
  • Knowledge of end-to-end product life cycle from conception to delivery to ongoing operations
  • Executive presence, ability to interact with senior leaders and adapt style as needed for technical or non-technical audiences
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact professionally and build relationships with a diverse group of executives, managers, vendors and subject matter experts
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities with deep understanding of the business, excellent problem solving skills and sound judgement
  • Full stack technology knowledge of web, client/server, API, standalone apps ad database
