This is an exciting opportunity for a senior design leader to shape and scale a growing product design function within a fast-moving, mission-driven technology environment. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on design execution, offering the chance to influence both product direction and team maturity during a key growth phase. You will champion user-centered thinking across the organization while building scalable design systems, research practices, and collaborative workflows. Working closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will help deliver intuitive, high-impact experiences in a regulated and complex domain. The position is ideal for someone passionate about balancing design craft, operational excellence, and innovation, particularly in emerging AI-driven workflows. You will play a critical role in defining how products evolve while ensuring design quality, consistency, and usability remain at the forefront.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and evolve the overall product design practice by establishing scalable processes, standards, rituals, and design governance frameworks.
  • Act as the voice of the user across the organization, ensuring user needs and research insights shape product and business decisions from discovery through delivery.
  • Build and strengthen a robust user research culture, creating systems that make customer insights accessible, actionable, and continuously integrated into product development.
  • Oversee and maintain the design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, accessibility, and long-term adaptability across the platform.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of AI-powered tools and workflows within the design process to improve efficiency and innovation.
  • Champion evidence-based design decisions by combining quantitative analytics, qualitative research, and contextual insights.
  • Contribute directly to hands-on product and UX design work, particularly for complex, high-impact, or user-critical features.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to define and communicate the long-term product vision and user experience strategy.
  • Mentor and guide designers while fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and quality-focused design culture.
  • Ensure design practices support scalability, operational efficiency, and strong cross-functional alignment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requirements:

    • Proven experience leading product design initiatives within regulated, clinical, healthcare, or other high-stakes environments where usability, clarity, and consistency are essential.
    • Strong background in UX, interaction design, and product strategy with a portfolio demonstrating impactful, user-centered solutions.
    • Experience scaling design teams, processes, and systems within growing technology organizations or startups.
    • Strong technical fluency with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and understand implementation constraints.
    • Deep understanding of user research methodologies and evidence-driven design practices.
    • Familiarity with AI tools, emerging AI workflows, and the practical application of AI in product design and development.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional decision-making.
    • Strong leadership instincts with experience building collaborative, high-performing design cultures.
    • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Passion for creating impactful digital experiences that improve outcomes for users and customers.
    • Benefits:

      • Flexible remote-first working environment with optional office access in London.
      • Equity options and pension contributions.
      • Flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
      • Opportunity to work abroad for up to 90 days annually.
      • Enhanced parental leave policies.
      • 25 days annual leave in addition to public holidays.
      • Birthday leave plus an additional personal day of choice.
      • Quarterly meal allowance to share experiences with friends or family.
      • Monthly wellbeing allowance or private medical insurance support.
      • Quarterly team socials and collaborative events.
      • Annual learning and development budget.
      • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful social impact through improved healthcare experiences.
      • Exposure to a fast-growing, well-funded startup environment focused on innovation and global impact.
