Director of Product, Individual Investor

Role: You'll be responsible for leading the product management function for Morningstar Investor, Morningstar's direct-to-consumer individual investor product. This role will own the development of a shared vision and the execution of a product roadmap that places the individual and their investing journey at the center. The ideal candidate will be a passionate investor and have experience building digital products for consumers across web and mobile interfaces using agile product development processes. They will need to be a high-performance experienced leader that sets high bars, is willing to innovate on ways of building product and takes an active approach to helping teams reach their maximum potential.
Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product roadmap for Morningstar Investor
• Ensure there is a high degree of focus on delivering positive outcomes for our customers by being their chief advocate
• Grow and evolve the teams' processes and practices around the use of user research, product testing and iterative agile development
• Partner with head of individual investor strategy and other team members to establish competitive analysis intelligence, market analysis, and customer research that aids in the understanding of current and future customer needs.
• Plan the structure and growth of the product management team
• Partner with design and engineering team leads to drive execution and ensure product managers are providing a high degree of support to their engineering, design, and program management counterparts.
• Own the OKR setting process for your teams, working closely with business partners to ensure alignment and focus across the individual investor business.

• Manage the performance of product managers through regular feedback, development plans, coaching, goal setting, recurring 1v1s and performance conversations
• Stay current on product development across Morningstar to identify dependencies, impacts, and opportunities for the individual investor roadmap.
• Define and report regularly on success metrics measuring customer satisfaction, product engagement and business impact
• Partner with Marketing on go-to-market strategies and the development of product-driven growth
• Achieve customer satisfaction and financial growth and goals

Requirements

• 10+ years of product management experience with a strong customer-focused mindset
• 5+ years working with direct-to-consumer software products
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and teams with stakeholders across the organization
• Experience working closely with business & marketing partners
• Skilled communicator, comfortable with delivering presentations and providing clear written communication

• Natural collaborator
• Strategic and analytical thinker who knows the details matter
• Familiarity with investing a must, solid understanding of ETFs, mutual funds, stocks, asset allocations investment performance and financial planning a plus
• Bachelor's degree; MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree/accreditation is strongly preferred
