Director of Product Management

Duties:  Work with the engineering team to ensure features are built and made available in a timely manner, including guiding design and architecture reviews, simplifying technical implementations, making determinations on the scope and resources needed to complete projects and prioritizing feature deliveries based on available resources. Evaluate and make recommendations on user interface technologies by utilizing JavaScript bundle sizes, rendering speed, componentization, server side rendering, site speed optimizations, payload sizes and underlying http protocols such as http2, dom parsing and browser rendering models. Utilize experience with mobile platforms including iOS/Android; work with cross functional teams to identify and define creative solutions to meet customer needs. Develop, optimize and fine tune wireless protocols to sync data between IoT sensors and the mobile platform. Incorporate tools such as Gradle, Xcode and specify their configurations and integrations within the platform framework. Understand isomorphic frameworks, define the level of control that should be exposed in the framework and determine the server side functionalities via Node.js APIs. Responsible for adoption and use of technical products, and present future technical plans and adoption metrics KPIs to senior executives. Collaborate with stakeholders on business and technology teams to drive changes required to build and deliver the mobile and web platform that is required to build user interface applications. Work with development leads to create a clean and organized code in an easily enhanced and maintained structure. Investigate live application issues, perform root cause analysis, leveraging and in-depth understanding of the product domain and drive the problem resolution process through to completion. Utilize knowledge of coding, rendering capabilities, limitations and standards as well as all stages of the development process, from build proof-of concept prototype to delivering production quality code. Develop modern user interface native mobile and web applications, working with fellow engineers, product managers, program managers, data scientists and interaction designers to understand end user requirements/stories and create engineering tasks using technologies and cross platform mobile development frameworks. Guide the production of relevant technical documentation, and write tests and provide code samples to support the documentation. Engage with stakeholders to understand their technical requirements and build the technical product roadmap. Implement automated functional test suites using tools (such as Nightwatch and XCUITest) to maintain the quality of user interfaces and APIs, and reduce the overall bugs in the software. Utilize enterprise planning and collaboration tools (such as Rally, Confluence, JIRA) to plan and execute software development tasks. Hire, coach, mentor, build and lead software development teams and other product managers in the delivery of the company’s digital technical solutions. Supervise a team of up to 8 direct reports, including Product Managers and/or Nutrition Science Specialists/Leads (currently 2: 1 Nutrition Product Specialist and 1 US Nutrition Database Lead).

Requirements: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field, plus eight years of product management, engineering management, and/or engineering lead experience. Eight years of the required experience must have included: architecting a web platform for building user interfaces; and using Rally, Confluence, and Clarity for enterprise planning, collaboration, and product or project management. Five years of the required experience must have included: designing and implementing HTML and JavaScript cloud-based applications; developing REST based APIs; coding in Swift and JavaScript to build hybrid mobile applications; and using Github pages and Gatsby.js for writing and hosting technical documentation for production traffic. Must have four years of experience with web and mobile architecture to simplify technical implementations and make determinations on the scope and resources needed to complete technical projects. Must possess skill with writing technical roadmaps and prioritizing them based on business goals using JIRA.
