Job Description
The Censys Internet Map is the most timely, comprehensive, detailed, enriched, and accurate view of hosts, services, and certificates on the Internet. Our Internet Map is the ground truth intelligence that powers the Censys Search and Data products, as well as our Exposure Management product. Our Internet Map empowers security teams across a variety of functions, including threat hunting, drives national and international cybersecurity efforts, and enriches third party applications and services, allowing our customers to gain an advantage over rapidly evolving cyber-attack threats.

As Director of Product for the Censys Internet Map product line you will be responsible for the Censys Search product (delivered as SaaS and API), as well as our Data product (delivered as direct DB access and downloads), across both commercial and government customer bases. You will also be responsible for the underlying Internet Map, including future new products that it can drive, as well as collaborating with our Exposure Management product line to deliver Internet Map content and functionality needed to help that product maintain its differentiation and leadership derived from having the best underlying data in the category.
We are looking for a player/coach who can lead the Internet Map product family and team, but is also a skilled Product Manager who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty, with the ability to demonstrate how Product Management should be done within their team and to fill gaps as needed.
Role Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Influences and shapes multiple major product areas or a product line.
- Management: Responsible for guiding and mentoring multiple Product Managers, including conducting regular performance evaluations of team members to optimize team productivity and performance.
- Product Strategy: Drives strategy on where we compete and how we win. Contribute to long-term product strategy and positioning, owning overall product themes and initiatives for a product line or major product areas, anticipating industry trends and technology shifts.
- Roadmap Planning: Owns the overall product roadmap for a product line or major product areas, ensuring alignment with the company's growth and expansion plans. Provides strategic leadership, often influencing company-wide product vision.
- Requirements Definition: Supports Product Managers in understanding and aligning requirements definition to Product Strategy to ensure successful product execution. Proactively communicates progress of initiatives to leadership to mitigate risks and avoid pitfalls.
- Feature Prioritization: Aligns feature prioritization to business objectives and strategy. Ensures cross-functional teams are aware of and understand how and why features are prioritized.
- Release Management: Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and sales, to drive product development and launches.
- Competitive Analysis: Conducts product, industry, and market analysis, identifying areas for differentiation and potential disruptive opportunities, and positioning the company and products as industry leaders.
- Pricing and Packaging: Sets pricing and packaging strategies that align with business objectives and market positioning, and that optimize revenue and market penetration.
- Business Case Development: Develops comprehensive business cases for major product initiatives and present them to executive leadership for approval.
- Financial Analysis and Gross Margin Management: Understands and actively manages financial aspects of the product line, optimizing gross margins and ensuring profitability.
- Customer Feedback and Support: Proactively routes customer discussions to the appropriate Product Manager, ensures coverage across product lines and Product Managers, and handles escalations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborates with Product Operations to optimize product-related processes, workflows, and cross-functional aspects throughout the entire product lifecycle to support the product's success.
- Go-To-Market Support: Per the responsibilities outlined above, ensures that GTM teams are enabled and supported, including developing key positioning and messaging with Product Marketing and providing any needed Product support to Sales and Customer Success teams in prospect or customer interactions.
- Thirty-Party / Vendor Management: Source, prioritize, and negotiate contracts for commercial data sources, infrastructure, and ISPs; work with vendors to resolve CTI complaints; identify and prioritize integration with non-commercial data sources.
Required Qualifications:
- 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience developing SaaS applications or cloud solutions, or experience developing API or Data products, ideally for cyber security.
- Experience operating in an Agile development environment.
- Recognized as a thought leader internally and externally.
- Drive clarity in an area through strong verbal and written communication.
- Able to present at all skill levels of the company.
- Appropriately influences and persuades others to a course of action without formal authority.
- Working knowledge of of network protocols and Internet infrastructure including: TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4 and IPv6, DNS, WHOIS, certificates, TLS, BGP, protocols such as HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, RDP, and Cloud Services.
- Thorough understanding and familiarity with security best practices, functions, and tooling as it relates to security and network operations.

Our target salary range for this role is between $205,000 USD and $255,500 USD + bonus eligibility and equity.
