Your Role:

As Director of Product, you will work directly with the CEO to shape the company’s product strategy and product requirements documents through customer insights and market research.  You will be the primary Voice of the Customer at the company, leading research into customer needs via site visits, video conferencing, and attending industry events.  Using these customer interactions and business analysis of costs, pricing, and benefits, you will create clear and actionable product requirements and then work with internal product development team members to craft world-class products for Mantle’s customers.  Your product requirements work will span hardware, software, and materials and will cover the full scope of Mantle’s 3D metal printing product line.

You will own:

• Creating and owning the Product Requirements Document as it evolves from early brainstorming to final shipping product specifications.
• Becoming a subject matter expert on the uses of Mantle technology to shape product direction and external messaging
• Leading internal and external product discussions and interfacing with technical peers to make sure high-level requirements are translated into appropriate engineering specifications.
• Working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to set appropriate product pricing based on market conditions and BOM costs to achieve company sales and market penetration goals
• Determining product differentiation strategies based on the assessment of competitor product positioning, customer feedback, and product usage

Your Qualifications:

• 5 to 10 years of experience in a product role for industrial hardware products; preferably with industrial CNC machines  and/or 3D printers
• Demonstrated expertise in interfacing with customers to pinpoint customer needs and translating these needs into product requirements
• Strong project management skills particularly in the development of complex industrial hardware systems
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering, or a similar technical degree is preferred, but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated via customer relationship building

Work Expectations for this job:

Hybrid: 3-4 days in the San Francisco office, as the work requires
