Overview of your role:
The Director, Commercial Connected Services will develop, evangelize and execute our commercial connected services product strategy. This includes design and delivery of best-in-class software products through the Connected Service product team, engineering, business unit partners, and cross-functional team members. You will lead a group of talented product managers and ultimately drive the team to achieve and surpass objectives and key results, including the development and growth of new-to-market solutions for communities and commercial operations. You will be responsible for driving step change impact to user acquisition, engagement, retention, market share, sales and profitability.
This role sits within our Connected Services team and is a part of our broader product management group. You can be remote with the expectation of collaborating on a roughly monthly basis at our new global headquarters in Oak Brook, IL just 20 miles west of Chicago.
What experience do you need?
- You have 10+ years of experience in product management, product design, and/or engineering
- You have a bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Science or related field; MBA is a plus
- You have prior experience building user-facing products (B2C or B2B2C), starting from conception through development, release and iteration. Saas experience a plus
- You've managed multiple software offerings including web, mobile, API's, and SDK's
- You demonstrate understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and delivery
- You believe in ownership and accountability
- You can think big, but also nail the details
- You do whatever it takes to make the product and team successful, and experience motivating and leading high performing teams by attracting, developing, engaging and retaining team members
- You have worked in an agile software development environment
- You are technical enough to ask engineers questions about architecture and product decisions. Coding experience is a bonus
- You value user research and data alike
- You have an understanding of user-centered design / human-centered design
- You're all about the user experience. You have an eye for good product design and take pride in optimizing your products to maximize conversion and engagement, as well as can formulate structured and quantitative reasoning for your actions
- You have an opinion - you consume new products voraciously and dig in to figure out what makes them good and you defend your opinion
- You communicate effectively, with empathy, and exceptional precision
- You know how to influence decision making at all levels within an organization
- You can travel up to 20% - domestically and internationally
What will you do:
- Develop, communicate and implement our commercial Connected Services strategy, delivering through both the direct team, business unit partners, and supporting functional teams; drive thoughtful and rigorous outcome-driven prioritization and resource allocation, product portfolio management, best in class technical design and execution of software development, integrated go-to-market and support planning, growth and scale strategies
- Drive the product team to achieve and surpass goals and business objectives, including, user acquisition, engagement, retention, market share, sales and profitability; lead the product team to implement near-term roadmaps and long-term visions which are aligned to overall CG business objectives
- Deliver flawless user experiences across all customer, partner, and dealer facing products
- Ensure product portfolio visions and roadmaps align with business unit(s) strategy; emphasis should be continuous discovery and delivery across all software teams to prioritize the most impactful work first; ensure that the broad organization understands priorities, goals and software strategy aligns with the hardware and solutions strategy across each BU
- Own the strategy for software, experiences, integrations, and solutions across multiple product portfolios; partner with cross-functional leaders to develop go-to-market strategies and ensure achievement of business objectives; guide end-to-end development plans to grow and scale the business
- Ensure the Product team has the necessary processes and procedures in place to manage the quality, cost, and delivery of products; identify areas for improvement and ensure team takes action when corrections are needed
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to develop and deliver connected services required for product portfolio; drive the implementation and sustaining of the end user connected experience, including uncovering real-time consumer insights, driving user experience requirements, creating business cases or anticipated reach and impact and winning value propositions
- Advise and assist senior leaders in developing key go-to-market partnerships, including inorganic activities (M&A, licensing, connected service integrations) to support the residential BU product line growth and connectivity strategy
- Represent the company with major customers, competitors, trade associations, government agencies, professional societies and similar groups
- Protect CG's reputation by keeping information confidential
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed
