Director of Product Management (CPE)
Job Description
Comcast's Technology, Product & Experience organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience. Our roles primarily reside inside or around one of our Tech Hubs (Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, Denver, Austin, Silicon Valley, Washington DC/N. Virginia). Some roles can work virtual full-time if they are not near a Tech Hub, but that is dependent upon the needs of the position and amount of collaboration required.
Job Summary
Having successfully introduced the Syndication of Video, Broadband, Voice, and Home Security and Automation to MVPDs (Multichannel Video Programming Distributors) in North America, Comcast is now looking to expand its Syndication offering further to include Global Operators and MVPDs looking for greater flexibility in their offerings. Comcast's long-term vision is the integration of video, data, and voice, as well as home monitoring and control services to create seamless innovative customer experiences. Comcast views CPE Syndication as the cornerstone to enabling this long-term vision for its Global Syndication Partners both current and future.
The successful CPE Syndication Product Leader will blend a mix of technical product knowledge, industry experience, and organizational savvy to provide critical leadership in the bringing of these new products and services to our Syndication Partners. The successful candidate must be able to develop a coherent roadmap strategy that addresses the needs of the global market for both DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and have the breadth and depth to also address smart home / IoT (Internet of Things) devices and Wi-Fi connectivity devices painting a vision for how all these elements play together on the path to 10G.

Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- As a CPE B2B Product Manager, act as the primary product interface between our Syndication Partners and the internal product owners for Broadband, Smart Home, and WiFi Connectivity Products and Services
- Represent the Broadband, Smart Home, and WiFi Connectivity Product and Services roadmap and product status out to the Syndication Partners both current and future
- Manage the new feature requests that come in across multiple Partners by thoroughly vetting the request to ensure a complete understanding of the business driver behind the request, assessing alignment with the current internal feature roadmaps, establishing a priority based on criticality i.e., regulatory mandate, operational requirements, adherence to and industry standard, or identifying as a common area of need across multiple MVPD (Multichannel Video Programming Distributor) Syndication Partners
- Providing product training and support to product counterparts at MVPD Syndication Partners
- Write user stories, maintain a product backlog, and prioritize features using Agile methodologies.
- Create Product Requirements Documents which clearly outline the goals, objectives and risks of new products and features
- Communicate status and issues to stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Be the voice of the customer and the champion for the product across functional groups.
- The high bar for this role would be the ability to bridge CPE and Access Network technologies across multiple MVPDs to identify the most rationale approach that balances efficiency with effectiveness in the best way possible across the Syndication Partner Community.
- Manage a new initiative called e-RDK acting as the Syndication liaison to the HW and SW vendors developing an external RDK (Reference Design Kit) image and hardware for support of pursuing new MVPD opportunities with hardware requirements the different from Comcast.
- Product and Technical depth of Broadband/HSD/WiFi as well as ability to support Smart Home CPE such as Cameras and IoT devices
- Technical depth in hardware, firmware, RDK, and B2B Product Management is key to success.
- Manage CFR (Customer Feature Request), customer-facing technology and product Q/A in CPE domain, weekly Partner Product Meetings, and Quarterly TPX (Technology Product Experience) support Joint Partner Roadmap Meetings.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience preferably in engineering, business or related field, Master's Degree a plus
- 10+ years of experience in fast paced technology business, strong preference for experience in HSD (High Speed Data), telecommunications, and consumer technology industries
- Product knowledge and technical understanding of Broadband CPE including cable modems, WiFi Routers, and In-home Networking Technology Standards.
- Ability to act as Broadband Solution Owner with the wherewithal to speak with confidence to the various solution components including but not limited to: HSD Gateways, Open-Source SW, RDK-B, Cloud-based LAN (Local Area Network) / In-Home Network Management Software, and smart home and IoT.
- B2B MVPD Industry experience; ability to interface with other MVPD product managers
- Working knowledge of the Cable Industry either as a vendor or at a MVPD
- Solid technical background with understanding of Broadband/WiFi/Smart Home Technologies
- Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- This position may require travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America and Internationally (20%)
- Strong time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to execute against multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams within a flexible work environment
- Self-starter with ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter
- Must be able to bridge the gap between business and technology
- Deep interest and understanding of consumer tech products and product lines
- Excellent analytic and strategic planning skills

- Generally, requires 11+ years related experience
- Proven record of accomplishment in product management in HSD Products / Broadband Service (8+ years)
