Upwork is looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Product to craft and drive product capabilities for our Work Management product area. Work Management is very integral to our business, and it is instrumental to both sides of our marketplace (client and talent) interacting with each other to form a working relationship, and subsequently manage their contracts and project work with each other. We believe that the great customer experience starts with robust platform capabilities. And hence this product lead will influence the full stack - from platform to user experience. Developing products to support multiple geographies carries with it many challenges. The ideal candidate will have previously developed global product strategies that enable and drive business growth and go-to-market efficiency. Due to the interconnectedness of Work Management, this role requires a thoughtful leader who can proactively collaborate with other product and cross functional leaders. They will also lead a team of product managers to identify and build robust product platform capabilities and experiences.

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $188,000.00 - $297,000.00. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

Your Responsibilities:
- Define product strategy and roadmap for Work Management, working closely with functional partners and engineering leaders. Clearly set the product prioritization with a balance of near-term results and longer-term investment in product experiences and technology platforms
- Own product commitments and business results. Effectively communicate strategies & trade-offs up to senior leaders and down to development team
- Be the evangelist for great work management experience that will drive faster client and talent matching, better collaboration between customers on projects leading to higher customer satisfaction and retention
- Translate marketplace and enterprise requirements into generic platform capabilities that encompass core product platforms and associated customer experiences
- Synthesize market changes and technology improvements into concrete improvements for the platform
What it takes to catch our eye:
- Strong product management experience in marketplace collaboration products and platforms, order management
- People management experience of 3+years
- Conversant with modern day technologies and user experience principles required to bring product solutions to market, at scale and globally
- Drive and willingness to go above and beyond with a strong work ethic
- Balances technical and commercial savvy; able to communicate what is possible and what will have the biggest impact on the business
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively influence a wide range of collaborators all across the organization
