Role & Responsibilities
digitalundivided is hiring for a Director of Programs. This person should have at least 5 years of experience in entrepreneurship and/or innovations in the start-up space. Whether professional or lived experience (we really value lived experiences and bringing yourself to work professionally at digitaldunvidied). This role requires agility and responsiveness both to our founders, funders and partners and mentors and facilitators and oversees a team of up to 4 people. We are a remote organization with a big vision and we hustler hard every day to create a world where women of color own their worth and worth. This role reports directly to the CEO and requires having good judgment, being very observant, being comfortable with a fairly transparent work environment, being able to take candida feedback from internal and external stakeholders, and having the ability to take initiative towards implementing solutions with our priorities in mind.
The ideal candidate is able to work with a fast-pace enviroment, that, as the world is opening up, makes the work more and more matrixed, and able to present and coach other people in public speaking. Presentation and facilitation skills are a must.
Remote role, but travel is required up to 30% of the time.
Requirements
Your approach:
- Program Leadership and Management: This individual will have taken a hands-on approach in leading a program (incubator/accelerator, etc) focused on entrepreneurial and startup development. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading a performance-based and outcome-based program and staff. They would have developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth.
- Team Building and Development: The successful candidate will have recruited, managed, and developed a strong team of staff. This individual will serve as a "player/coach" to motivate and mentor his or her team and is comfortable with leading during periods of change.
- Exceptional Cross-Cultural Communication and Influencing Skills: As a voice/advocate for digitalundivided, the Director will have strong written and verbal cross-cultural communication skills. They will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations.
- Excited by Innovation: Extremely detail-oriented and tech-savvy (experienced using project and communication management software like Monday.com, MentorDeck and Slack). Knowledge of funding vehicles for startups and small businesses is considered a plus.
What You Will Do (including, but not limited to):
- Develop new learning and cohort-based opportunities for diverse founders addressing barriers specific to Latina and Black women entrepreneurs
- Manage and build a solid foundation for a growing team under the Programs department
- Provide regular reporting of program metrics and progress to the leadership team
- Recruit, schedule, and vet speakers, workshop leaders, cohorts, mentors, and entrepreneur in residence (EIRs)
- Coordinate program materials including drafting briefs, worksheets, and other collateral materials
- Conduct pre- and post-program evaluation and follow-up in coordination with the Senior Director of Research and Evaluation, monitoring data collection, and summarizing key insights from program evaluation to partners and team
- Manage data and CRM systems to provide comprehensive and up-to-date entrepreneur information including tracking of notes, documents, milestones, and other important information
- Coordinate with the Partnership and Events team around logistics including booking venues, catering, A/V, photography/videography, speakers, decor and additional vendors
- Promote digitalundivided programs and events throughout the ecosystem
- Track programming development via Monday.com
- Collect stories of impact from entrepreneurs for use on the web, social, and e-newsletter
- Develop and maintain relationships with partners, founders, mentors, and facilitators throughout the ecosystem
- Develop and provide a strategy to achieve the organization's mission
- Coordinate the year-round logistics, operations, administration, scheduling, calendar management and event planning for all programs/workshops
- Develops and supports a high-quality and impactful experience for founders to ensure project goals are achieved and measured
- Performs oversight of the project management life cycle administration including planning and implementation for task/project completion
- Communicates and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure programs meet established objectives. Solicits and analyzes feedback to identify and implement lessons learned
- Regularly monitors and analyzes processes for effectiveness and opportunities for efficiency
- Manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations
- Maintain project documentation, cohort information, directories, and course folders
- Suggest and develop proposals for program enhancements to improve founder's experience
- Liaise with the Marketing team to ensure proper advertisement and positioning of programs
- Launch each cohort, lead program team, and monitor and report on founder's progress
- Represent digitalundivided at conferences and meetings
- Working effectively with other colleagues to further the development of the work of digitalundivided including developing new programs that support startup companies
- Other special projects as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong ethics, high energy, and passion for digitalundivided's mission, with a focus on driving impact
- 8-10 years of professional experience, with demonstrated success leading communications and marketing for startups, nonprofits and other social impact organizations. Prior experience with entrepreneur programs is a plus.
- Deep familiarity with Lean Startup methodologies, growth hacking, product development, agile methodologies, and/or the startup functions needed to build a viable late early-stage company
- Proven track record of designing, implementing, and executing successful curriculum-based programming amongst competing priorities
- Experience at mission-driven brand-building and shaping stories for diverse audiences
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for diverse audiences and needs.
- Experience managing a diverse team, with a flexible and adaptable style (using project and communication management software like Asana, Monday.com, and Slack)
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside digitalundivided.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required
