Director of Project Manager Development
Job Description
The Director of Project Manager (PM) Development will report into the Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence of Louis Berger Services and will be responsible for creating and implementing a program focused on developing our Project Managers and their teams. The primary focus of this program is to identify and build a foundation of competencies within the ten functions of the project manager role. Additionally, this position will develop and implement a delivery system for this project manager development program. Finally, this role will partner with LBS business leaders and human resources to create a pipeline of project management talent from within the LBS organization.
This role will execute and lead the delivery of PM training and the development of coaching programs to PMs. In addition, the Director of PM Development will be involved with monthly project reviews in order to identify positive impact of the development program as well as areas to modify the program for greater success.
Your Impact
- Direct training delivery including the implementation and execution of training programs and curriculum while using a range of learning, ensuring quality training standards are consistently achieved.
- Research and identify project manager learning needs, coordinating the design, development and execution of learning and development solutions.
- Determine training and development priorities as a result of needs analysis, and acquiring or developing programs and resources to meet priority needs.
- Partner with Project Manager Development Team and operational leaders to assess, design, deploy, measure and evaluate project management training/performance solutions and intervention.
- Ensure training and development needs are met in the most cost-effective manner based on currently available technology and resources.
- Forecast annual programs to meet organizational growth, developing training roadmaps and curriculums.
- Track ROI and regularly report on key training metrics to senior leaders to determine effectiveness of project manager training; measure training program effectiveness based on measured results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of ten years' management level experience. Strong operational background in services, facilities, logistics, transportation, or utilities.
- Project management experience across various project types and sizes, including standing up new projects, coaching and development project resources, and improving project performance.
- Experience with developing and delivering project manager training - previous experience with Project Management Institute curriculum is a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of service providers in the learning and development space; has previous experience in developing and managing training and development budgets.
- Highly skilled at taking a consultative approach and working across a matrixed organization, with ability to roll up sleeves to provide front-line deliverables and span up to leading strategic efforts.
- Must be an excellent collaborator who can interact across operational and functional organizations as well as engage with division leadership. Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary leaders and staff.
- Data driven and flexible individual with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and lead/manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
- Strategic and systems thinker who proactively anticipates business risks and has a strong drive towards execution.
- Demonstrated experience leading mid- to high-complexity projects in a global, matrixed organization with experiencing leading teams remotely.
- Approachable hands-on style with the ability to engage with people at all levels of management.
- Excellent leadership skills. Strong communication and platform presentation skills.
- Must be able to travel up to 25%, including internationally, requiring a valid passport. Also, must be able to travel effectively within COVID restricted locations - proof of vaccination is required for this role.
- Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.
