Director of Public Relations
Job Description
Open to remote work in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah
Primary Job Purpose
The Director of Public Relations is responsible for leading, developing and executing public relations as a critical component of the company's health plan business in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah, as well as regional and national positioning of Cambia Health Solutions and other corporate entities. The Director will be a senior strategist responsible for working collaboratively with executive leadership and business partners to identify communications opportunities across our brands that engage key stakeholders (media, health plan members, employers, influencers, policy makers, providers, brokers and other external audiences), while driving the key narrative themes that build credibility and trust and enhance reputation. The Director will manage both internal and external resources, consistently reviewing the performance of our communications and impact upon brand reputation and market position. The individual will provide coaching and development for team members and executives to integrate public relations efforts and business priorities with strategic market activities, while enhancing the broad understanding and value of strategic communications as a multi-faceted discipline.
General Functions and Outcomes
- Develops and executes external communications strategies and tactics across channels for key external stakeholders.
- Leads the external communications team responsible for strategic message development, comprehensive outreach plans, and all proactive and reactive media outreach.
- Supports brand reputation efforts and ensure enhanced responsiveness to change through effective communications with members, employers and other external stakeholders. Develop and manage integrated internal and external strategies to enhance and protect the company's brand reputation.
- Partner with other corporate functions to drive an appropriate use of a wide range of communication vehicles in the delivery of consistent messages across audiences to influence and meet corporate objectives.
- Develop and/or collaborates on issues management and/or crisis plans on multiple-state level basis or corporate-wide as issues arise.
- Provide strategic counsel and coaching to all levels of staff including senior executives.
- May represent Cambia companies on community boards, coalitions or other external groups.
- Coaches and guides team for performance and developmental success.
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership across all aspects of corporate communications and external affairs including; strategic planning, message management, constituency outreach, and thorough knowledge of current communications channels.
- Ability to create and deliver multi-faceted communications that align with business priorities and convey a compelling and inspired vision to each key stakeholder audience; content deliverables can include message maps, talking points, press materials, social media and blog posts, employee and executive communications.
- Proven experience in developing, communicating and placing content that strategically promotes and enhances public perception and understanding of the organization's objectives and achievements using a variety of communication channels.
- Demonstrated experience building and/or significantly upgrading communication capabilities as well as the ability to improve processes and organizational structure across cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional teams to deliver complex, time-critical analysis and information to key internal and external stakeholders with a wide range of priorities .
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively work across a matrix organization, quickly adapting to changing environments and situations and working effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Experience counseling all levels of employees on a variety of communications strategy and brand reputation management issues.
- Ability to manage internal and external resources such as agencies and contractors to perform work, including establishing priorities, budgeting, planning and monitoring for overall quality and efficiency parameters.
- Strong Project Management skills.
- Strong diplomatic skills, ability to successfully identify solutions despite competing demands and ideas.
- Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of national and state health care and health insurance regulations and processes.
- Think creatively about content and programs to engage and influence all audiences.

Director of Public Relations will have a Bachelor's degree in journalism or related communications field and 12 years communications experience including in public affairs or public relations and five years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
