Director of Public Relations 

The Director of Public Relations is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to promote Fastly’s brand and products. Fastly is a rapidly-growing and fast-paced edge cloud company with a product portfolio that includes network services and content delivery, edge computing, web app security and observability tools. We serve as an extension of our customer’s infrastructure and our technology is both mission-critical and highly sophisticated. We are looking for candidates who can thrive in this kind of environment, with a proven track record of making complex B2B technologies accessible to a larger audience. 

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with our International Communications Lead to develop and implement successful PR campaigns, setting direction and strategy in conjunction with key internal stakeholders
  • Work with executive and product teams across the organization to unearth compelling, actionable stories for a variety of external audiences
  • Oversee the execution of all day-to-day North America PR activities, including managing external company announcements, fulfilling press inquiries, and reviewing all award and speaking opportunities, among others
  • Lead and manage our PR agency in North America and partner with our International Communications Lead to help support global PR efforts as needed  
  • Monitor and analyze news developments and devise strategies to grow Fastly’s media share of voice
  • Manage and protect Fastly’s reputation through stakeholder engagement and timely communication

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years leading similar functions
  • Demonstrated success in growing media presence for B2B public company
  • Exceptional storytelling skills that can be applied to a wide variety of media 
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing, and project management skills
  • Experience managing a PR agency and budget 
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines with limited resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field of study

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of supporting technology companies, preferably in the cloud, network services and/or cybersecurity
  • Strong track record working with and presenting to executives
  • Strong understanding of financial communications and partnering with IR
  • Experience managing a crisis communication function
  • Experience providing governance oversight for social media channels
  • Prior management experience a strong plus 

Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements

This is a HYBRID role out of SAN FRANCISCO, CA.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.  

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $166,360 to $244,640.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
