Role Summary
The Director of Quality for the Cosma West group is responsible for building high performance teams to meet / exceed Customer / Magna / Group / Division goals in accordance with the Magna's Operational Principles and Employee's Charter Framework. The position will focus on every aspect and phase from inception to delivery and all related systems, structure and processes that impact quality of our product, regardless of function. The successful candidate is an experienced Quality Leader who has successfully built high performing teams to deliver excellent products to the market.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies & procedures & government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product & engineering designs & manufacturing & training methods
Prepare product & process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, & summarizing information & trends.
Achieve financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Partner with the Sales & other functional teams to understand customer quality requirements & metrics
Identify the appropriate metrics & KPIs to measure internal & customer quality outcomes & processes; present quality metrics to internal & external stakeholders (customers; partners)
Identify & close all quality gaps
Audit quality systems & processes for deficiencies & implement appropriate corrective actions; report results & recommendations to leadership team
Build a quality organization that resolves issues/problems while maintaining & meeting business requirements
Collaborate with other employees, managers, & teams to ensure high quality outcomes; provide strong quality support for design & development teams
Assist Division QA Managers & supports the customer in resolving issues
Monitors key launch CPMP/LPNP gate reviews & follow up on open quality related items for resolution
Conduct audits as required to support successful launches
Participate in recruiting for Divisions as required
Share lessons learned & best practices across Divisions & Group
Responsible & accountable for meeting Cosma/Magna objectives such as Quality KPI's, and Cost of Quality
Promote & initiate continuous improvements & cost reduction opportunities
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Education
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience supporting global products and global launches
  • Excellent understanding of Product Development Process
  • Experience speaking and presenting to C-level executives at customers and strategic partners
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial organization; results-oriented with a sense of urgency or passion
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Must possess human relations, leadership skills and maturity of judgment
  • Must be proficient in computer use
  • Good attention to detail, and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

Work Experience
Work Experience
  • Minimum 10 years Quality Leadership work-related experience in an automotive environment
  • Demonstrated success in company-wide quality policies, structure, systems, and procedures
  • Possess / Maintain IATF 16949 Lead Auditor certification to meet 2nd party audit requirement
  • Strong knowledge of the various OEM quality systems, including Ford, VW, GM, FCA, and Hyundai/KIA
