Job Description

You will be part of the Engineering team at ServiceTitan responsible for the technical development of our product and tooling platform. We provide exciting opportunities to make an immediate impact in our rapidly growing organization. We are quality minded, use the most modern tools on the Microsoft .NET platform, have an amazing culture, and love to solve complex problems. Over 50,000 people depend on our software to perform all their daily activities.
We are looking for a Director to build, lead, and manage a team of strong software engineers. This team will contribute to our software development lifecycle by building out tools, libraries, and processes that will improve our development velocity, expand our test coverage, and enable fast, reliable, comprehensive automated coverage. The Director will be essential for managing competing priorities and delivering a quality tooling product on time to our engineering teams. The Director will also determine, own, and communicate the toolchain strategy and vision to the entire Engineering organization.
We need a technically capable, forward-looking, experienced leader who can build best-in-class tools to be proud of across all segments of delivery - functional, acceptance, performance, security, disaster readiness, etc. We also desire someone who can balance rapid iteration and development with long term strategic thinking and who is innovative, confident, and comfortable with ambiguity.
What you'll do
  • Work with Talent Acquisition and Leadership to hire a strong team of engineers
  • Manage the team of engineers completely - own their performance, processes, priorities, and long-term goals
  • Identify and Drive organizational improvements through partnerships with other Directors and Engineering Managers
  • Work closely with feature engineering teams to identify and close technical gaps in our ability to deliver software at quality and at scale
  • Partner with Engineering Leadership to ensure your goals are aligned with Engineering and Company goals
  • Communicate effectively across the engineering and R&D organizations
  • Build and improve our testing tooling and frameworks by working closely with Engineers and Automation Engineers to deliver a testing platform that enables every team to have velocity and find success
  • Work closely with Developers and Architects to understand the product architecture to ensure we have sufficient and comprehensive testing gates across all levels
  • Own the tooling and strategy from local machine through production while providing observability on adoption and impact.

What you'll bring:
  • 6+ years of managing small to medium-sized software development teams responsible for development, testing, and production support.
  • 4+ years building tooling for engineering teams
  • Expertise in the software development lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud technologies (Azure/AWS), infrastructure (Kubernetes and/or Docker), and devops tooling (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience with code deployments and version control systems (Git), CI/CD tools (TeamCity, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc)
  • Familiarity with the Test Pyramid and Agile Test Quadrants and other quality strategy concepts
  • Strong communication and technical-writing skills
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
