ID.me simplifies how people securely prove and share their identity online. The company empowers people to control their data through a portable and trusted login, which means they don’t need to create a new password when visiting sites that have the ID.me button.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital migration for many critical services. Those services require a trusted identity to safeguard against fraud and help ensure people are who they claim to be. With ID.me, login and identity credentials move with people, which can reduce the time and frustration of having to verify at multiple sites and set up multiple passwords.

ID.me is a credential service provider compliant with federal standards for digital identity verification. 

In addition to helping people control their credentials and data, the company’s “No Identity Left Behind” initiative strives to expand access and inclusion for all people. The company offers multiple pathways to verification – online self-serve, live video chat agents, and in person. Role Overview

ID.me is looking for an experienced Director of  Revenue, who will develop an overall strategic vision to drive and manage the revenue accounting, revenue methodology, and related processes for compliance in a high growth, fast paced environment. Reporting into the Chief Accounting Officer, this position will lead the order to cash cycle and work cross functionally with broader accounting and finance teams to enhance our internal processes and systems to drive full compliance and automation of the revenue recognition and revenue metrics. Must have experience managing software revenue recognition and related operational and financial reporting in the hi-tech industry (SaaS and usage based model).

You will be the subject matter expert for the software/ SaaS revenue accounting compliance under ASC 606 and will engage with our teams to provide thought leadership and assist in structuring complex sales transactions. The successful candidate will need to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including sales operations, product, legal, and data.  

Responsibilities
  • Review revenue contracts and document revenue recognition treatment and issues in accordance with ASC 606, and internal revenue policies
  • Manage full cycle general ledger financial close process for revenue reporting and related activities to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including managing/reviewing close activities such as review of revenue models, journal entries, fluctuation analysis and account reconciliations within the established close timeline
  • Oversee the Billing team in supporting the overall growth of the company by helping to monitor the collections process, analyze outstanding accounts receivable, and track cash collections performance and related metrics. Continued development and scaling of the revenue and billing teams 
  • Identify opportunities for the design, documentation, and implementation of process improvements and increased controls to support the growing operations; collaborate in designing and enhancing financial systems and lead order to cash workflow
  • Provide support and guidance to the sales, legal, and cross functional teams during contract negotiations, pilot programs, and reviews in the areas of revenue recognition to resolve complex contract issues and develop solutions in compliance with business practices and policies
  • Partner with operations teams to review and provide thought leadership on various customer contracts, including converting and implementing contracts into revenue models in NetSuite, and provide operational support (set up new processes as needed), and ensure revenue optimization
  • Maintain and continue to improve upon current internal controls, policies and infrastructure to scale with the business
  • Partner closely with the sales, FP&A, legal and data team for accuracy of the revenue forecast
  • Mentor, train and develop a growing revenue accounting team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA, MBA or other advanced degree is a plus but not required
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience managing software revenue accounting and related financial reporting in the hi-tech industry (SaaS and usage based model)
  • Strong knowledge of Software/SaaS revenue recognition rules ASC 606
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously; strong Excel skills and comfort with large data sets
  • Able to give clear and consistent recommendations and/or instructions to team members
  • Strong leadership and influence skills to manage projects and initiatives across organizations
  • Experience with NetSuite, NeSuite ARM and SuiteBilling or other billing solutions, and SFDC CPQ
