Job Description
Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Director of Revenue. This is a unique opportunity to lead and manage a large team in a high-impact role that is critical to the financial success of the Firm. The Director plays an all-important role in the revenue cycle of the Firm by overseeing the intake, billing, and collection functions for the Firm. This includes recommending and implementing billing and collection best practices that will streamline internal processes and support attorneys with their client relations. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and be a hands-on leader engaged in the day-to-day operations of the intake, billing, and collection teams. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and has a high level of interaction with Partners.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the Firm's operations of the client/matter financial set-up functions, billing, and collections.
- Assess and enhance the processes for billing and collections to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Implement collection strategies to minimize overdue accounts and maximize cash flow while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Manage activities that facilitate the timely and accurate processing of month-end close tasks and month-end report distribution.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with partners, secretaries, staff, and external Firm clients to resolve complicated billing and collection issues, while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Manage and mentor the Managers/Supervisors to support their team's professional development by giving timely feedback and fostering a collaborative/positive work environment.
- Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders and Management on practice specific billing and collections initiatives.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and prepare ad-hoc reports upon request using various internal reporting tools; work with the financial systems team to design new reports that will facilitate the billings and collections process.
- Oversee the documentation of billing and collection policies and procedures. Enforce all Firm Financial and Intake policies through a constructive but collaborative review and approval process.
- Coordinate and conduct training and orientation for new lateral partners, billing attorneys, secretaries, and appropriate staff.
- Implement, support, and administer revenue assurance and audit workstreams.
- Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree a plus.
- 10+ years of complex billing experience in a law firm and/or professional service firm.
- 10+ years managing a large team with varying priorities.
- Proficiency with various software programs utilized by law firms for paper billing, e-billing and collections. Proficiency with 3E, Elite, E-Billing Hub, and ARCS, a plus.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build strong relationships and instill trust and respect across the department and Firm.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to effectively manage and present complex information to all levels of employees/stakeholders.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels effectively to promote collaboration and partnership to solve issues and make recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work in an environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive deadlines, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
