THE ROLE
ButterCMS is looking for an experienced sales professional with a demonstrated track record of customer-facing technical sales in a b2b SaaS environment who is eager to take the lead in shaping our go-to-market strategy. The Director of Sales will build, maintain and manage a sales pipeline and forecast, and grow the team in a hands-on way. This role is responsible for prospecting contacts, generating qualified opportunities, winning new business, and managing relationships with key customers while also thinking about the long-term strategic positioning of the team, hiring the right people, and enabling sales.
The Director will act as an expert consultant to guide customers in planning and development of technical solutions and document functional and technical requirements for proposals of products and services. Excellent technical comprehension is essential to drive our continued success of generating new customers. This position will report to the VP of Growth and coordinate efforts with our Executive, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams. This position is 100% remote and will require some travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate all resources (internal, customer, partner) and activities necessary for an effective and efficient enterprise software solution sales process.
- Run a full sales cycle from qualification and discovery to fulfillment.
- Build and execute targeted outbound strategies.
- Design partner processes and programs; including finding, signing, onboarding, and supporting partners.
- Provide ongoing and accurate visibility/status of pipeline and forecast.
- Lead and own the proposal process.
- Maintain and communicate market and product knowledge. Stay abreast of market and competitive activity, competitive product developments and utilize this knowledge to drive pricing decisions and tactics.
- Collaborate with our marketing team on sales collateral and campaigns.
- Inform the product and technical team on various market requirements and demands, customer needs, and any potential product adaptation needs.
- Attend tradeshows and give presentations at technical conferences.
Requirements
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in both mid-market and enterprise sales roles, preferably b2b SaaS sales.
- Familiarity with SaaS and Subscription delivery models is required.
- Experience putting together comprehensive account planning.
- Track record of success in overachieving sales quotas.
- Proven and consistent hunting skills (both initial penetration and cross-selling.)
- Comfortable in presenting a complex, technical proposition at an executive, corporate overview level, running first meetings and demos with customers without a sales engineer.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers and the partner and vendor ecosystem.
- Great presentation skills (oral and written) for communicating complex solutions, and business benefits.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Savvy in using any CRM and quoting tools.
- Self-motivated team player, comfortable in a start-up environment.
- High integrity and great work ethic.
- Problem-solver, result-driven, positive-minded, combined with enormous enthusiasm and perseverance.
- Great leadership skills that allow you to work through a project from A to Z with other departments and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in business or technical domain is preferred.
- Travel as necessary.
- Located in US, Eastern/Central Time Zone preferred.
