Director of Sales, FindLaw
Job Description
The Director of Sales builds strategy and leads a team of sales professionals in the Western US to achieve overall sales, renewal, and retention goals. Success is achieved through driving performance accountability within the team and effective partnership with inside sales leadership, Segment, as well as support functions across SLF and TR enterprise.
Major Expectations:
- Maximize total sales, renewal, and retention goals within assigned district
- Collaborates with the SLF segment and leadership teams, sales operations, and marketing to implement district's strategic and operational business plans
- Creates a culture of performance, accountability, and sales mindedness across team of regional sales managers, and works with their manager-leaders to identify and share best practices, and create clear operating priorities and plans for their sales reps, to overachieve against all goals
- Manages and owns a sales pipeline of new business; maintains and develops existing customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods
- Leans in and actively engages in digital as a key enabler to the productivity and growth of our full business
Deliverables:
- Delivery of target financial and strategy objectives for the sub-segment (e.g. gross sales [PY growth]); growth through cross-sell/up-sell, net new customer acquisitions, and product innovation (e.g. E/R ratio, client acquisition)
- Accurate forecasting, customer evaluation and procurement reports; consistent achievement of sales quota, forecasted revenue, and unit targets; consistent update of all CRM systems / reporting on market and competitor activities
- Presentations across internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development
- Refresh strategic workforce supported by active talent and succession pipeline (e.g. employee satisfaction); annual improvements in organizational effectiveness (client-centricity, customer approach, rapid decision making)
- Build a cohesive and inclusive sales culture and leadership voice across the organization
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in sales and sales leadership, with specifically 4-6 years experience in direct sales management
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on driving accountability and building an empowered, highly effective management team
- Strategic thinking skills; effective account planning, sales negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing technology environment, and to complete multiple projects simultaneously
- Ambitious self-starter with high energy and motivation
- Knowledge of legal markets, legal information needs and online legal products
- Able to travel to customer locations
- Four-year degree required; JD plus MBA or commensurate business experience preferred
