In this newly created role, the Director of Sales Operations will be pivotal in bringing our current deal desk to the next level by fostering a culture of change, increased responsibility, and greater sales enablement. This person will sit at the intersection of Sales, Legal, Finance, Customer Success, and Accounting, acting as a strategic advisor, managing the deal flow, and driving sustainable growth while minimizing sales cycle times.


Success in the Role: What are performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

In the first 30 days, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Evolv, our people, processes, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Begin formulating solutions to build out the Sales Ops organization

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Begin to make an impact in aligning processes and procedures with business initiatives
  • Establish a presence in the organization and be actively and positively engaged with cross-functional leaders
  • Identify key procedures that need to be implemented to support the organization
  • Take ownership of the Lead Weekly Escalation Forum

By the end of the first year, you will:

  • Improve our overall sales closing process
  • Create playbooks/processes around both standard and more creative deal structures
  • Ensure that there is consistent adherence to the processes you’ve defined
  • Have consistency in engaging with customers
  • Have established and reported on key metrics that are showing improvements in the deal desk function

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
  • Demonstrate team engagement, acting as a team player evidenced by positive feedback from the org, and becoming the go to person for Revenue Operations
  • Define the KPIs to report progress achievements, the overall organization's achievements, and collaborate with others in ensuring the data is valid and accurate.
  • Ensure we are making "good deals for Evolv", understand the margins on various sales and advise on whether to approve
  • Set and uphold rules of engagement for general deal assessment
  • Ensure Revenue Operations does not become a bottleneck by routinely testing the rules of engagement
  • Lead the Weekly Escalation Forum, partnering with Sales, Support, Products and Legal
  • Collaborate with FP&A to generate annual commission design plans that align with corporate financial goals, incentivize the right behavior, with varying quotas and comp structures, and provide room for SPIFFs / other incentives to generate short-term demand
  • Establish post-sale commercial escalations to ensure NPS score success, acting as a liaison for significant customer issues across sales, support, and supply chain
  • Establish a center of excellence for sales quote accuracy and consistency (discount accountability, accessory and value-add monetization, quote viability timeframe, and lead time indications for supply chain)
  • Manage the evolving approval process and automations within systems such as Salesforce, Service Cloud and beyond, ensuring data integrity, NDA enforcement/tracking, RFP capabilities, response libraries, and partnering with legal on Contract Management Tool Design
  • Perform periodic deal training to the sales force with internal partner participation

  • The Director of Sales Operations will report to the Chief Accounting Office and VP of Sales Operations and will build a team over time that grows with the organization.

Where is the role located?
  • The location of this role is flexible in the continental United States, with the expectation that there would be occasional travel to our headquarters located in Waltham, Massachusetts and work eastern time zone.
