Director of Software Architecture

The incumbent is the technical and architectural expert and provides supervision over Medrio’s architecture engineers in the Development Department.

Responsibilities:

• Define the architectural vision for the organization
• Provide technical leadership in all areas of system and application design across multiple technology stacks
• Be a hands-on programmer/architect to the organization
• Create and maintain system design and architecture documentation
• Define overall system architecture and ensure new implementation respects this design 
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure that the architectural plans and decisions align with the overall business needs
• Design and implement new frameworks, PoC’s, Data and strategic  improvements to Medrio's EDC and RTSM applications within an agile SDLC process
• Analyze existing systems and collect data to drive engineering improvements to increase scalability, security, uptime, ease of use, and innovation
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies while leading/participating in the technology evaluation process to drive innovation within the organization
• Participate in and contribute to team meetings
• Build plans to implement architectural changes and keep those plans up to date on deliverables and challenges
• Lead a small team of architects and support them in their career growth and development

Education and Years of Experience:

• BS Degree and 15+ years of application development experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ Years in an architectural role
• 5+ years as a technical leader
• Life Science experience helpful but not required

Working Conditions (include any required travel): 

• Standard remote office position
• Minimal Travel to architectural and technical summits

Skills/Areas of Experience:

• Experience Leading technology organizations
• Experience presenting architectural strategies to executives as well as peers
• Experience in designing and developing high availability web applications using the .NET platform
• Experience in Google Cloud,  Azure Cloud and Azure API
• Experience with multiple Javascript frameworks (i.e. React, Angular, typescript,…)
• Thorough understanding of distributed system architecture design and implementation
• Experience in multiple cloud platforms
• Exceptional communication, organization and presentation skills
• Experience using T-SQL/SQL Server
• Experience using an ORM tool such as NHibernate, Dapper ORM, or Entity framework
• Strong knowledge of client side technologies including CSS, javascript, jquery and HTML
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and concepts
• Experience with Big Data Application Architectures
• Experience with web application performance and scalability
• Experience designing public facing APIs in a hosted / software as a service environment
• Experience working in an agile environment (for example SCRUM)

• Not required but helpful:
• Knowledge of web service identity management protocols and methods
• Knowledge of clinical research data standards such as CDISC ODM
• Experience building mobile applications or web services for mobile apps
• Experience working with RTSM platforms

Salary range: $150,000 - $190,000 USD
