About the position:

As Director of Strategic Sourcing, located in Upstate New York, you will be ultimately responsible for developing and executing Supply Chain Sourcing strategies in support of company initiatives. This will involve management of all aspects of our global supply chain in support of electric lift truck production as well as our emerging technologies-including automation, energy storage and telematics. Aspects of this function include monitoring supply base QCD metrics in support of sourcing strategies and ensuring supply partners have sufficient capacity to support increased production levels. You will:

• Provides leadership and guidance in the creation and execution of sourcing strategies in support of the technical product roadmap while ensuring supply continuity and best total cost position. Ensures commodity strategy inputs include spend analysis, market and geographic considerations, targeted technologies, risk management and total cost of ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a complex global supply chain including proven capability in developing regional supply chains as required in support of production in Greene, NY and Muscatine, IA.
• Ensures supply chain execution to defined QCD metrics and committed capacity expansion.
• Possesses a keen ability to manage a broad global supply chain seamlessly, in a collaborative manner, as an extension of our own organization.
• Develops and cultivates relationships at senior levels with world-class technology partners to ensure roadmap alignment and strategy execution.
• Understands, monitors and forecasts key cost drivers based upon market factors and modifies sourcing strategies as appropriate.
• Drives continuous improvement throughout the value chain pursuant to creating sustainable competitive advantage while achieving lowest total cost.
• Provides support as needed in the negotiation and review of contracts, development agreements with key strategic suppliers including technology partners in support of technology transfer.
• Ensures sourcing systems platforms support the objectives of the business effectively and efficiently-including SAP Ariba.
• Fosters intercompany relationships across TMHNA so that common supply partners can be leveraged to ensure best performance and cost.
• Strong technical expertise and process knowledge in electronics, motion control, fabrication, formulated materials and raw material commodities.
• Must be innovative with a strong business sense, capable of easily identifying and prioritizing opportunity.
• Thrives in a fast paced, demanding environment while managing multiple priorities seamlessly.

About you:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management or Supply Chain Management
• 10+ years of executive management experience in strategic sourcing in commodities including electronics and motion control.
• Must have experience with leading experienced global sourcing/category managers. Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft suite of products. Experience in ERP/MRP programs is required; SAP is preferred.
• Must be solution driven, demonstrate and understand lean principles, analytical and problem-solving ability to evaluate strategic and tactical options and their potential impact on the organization.
• To be successful, candidate must have project management and problem-solving skills, supplier management skills and the ability to work and effectively communicate cross functionally at all levels of the company and suppliers.
• Must have the ability to fully understand key market and business drivers that will deliver successful commodity strategies to sustain supply chain continuity.
• The position requires 20-30% domestic and international travel. CPIM, CRP or Six Sigma certification would be desirable.
• Flexible work and eventually hybrid remote work may be applicable.

• A background within a heavy product industry such as automotive, trucks, trains, material handling, or aerospace would be a good fit.

About the total compensation package:

Salary-Expected to be $180,000+ depending on the selected candidate's background.

Requirements

• A Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
• Fifteen or more years of professional experience, with at least eight years of management experience is required.
• Material handling industry experience and experience in the technical competencies of the functional areas of responsibility is preferred.
