Working Independently, the Director of Supply Chain Planning & Logistics defines and implements comprehensive strategies for all aspects of his or her respective functions. This role is responsible for developing and executing logistics strategies, sourcing logistics services, managing the 3PL & carrier relationships, finished goods logistics, inventory management, and transportation planning and execution. The Director, working closely with the VP Supply Chain as well as a cross functional team consisting of partners in Sales, Marketing and Operations, will also lead and drive the monthly S&OP process, which will deliver the companies consensus demand forecast and the annual budgeted demand and operation plans. The role will require strategic and critical thinking along with solid understanding of overall company strategy, ability to articulate and drive execution of demand and operational plans, as well as changes and new products will be key to this role. Employees in this position may interact with their leader when needed, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require their leader's advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and complete Logistics and Planning strategies that will optimize our existing frozen supply chain network and build out a dry storage supply chain network as required to support new products.
  • Develop annual bottoms up budget for your respective departments.
  • Lead monthly S&OP process, delivering the company consensus demand plan.
  • Support direct reports in developing and executing weekly Production/Supply plan and long-term Master Production Schedule.
  • Figuring out long-term 3PL and carrier partner potential, including how each party will benefit from such an arrangement.
  • Develop annual transportation and warehousing cost improvement strategies and targets. Also, responsible for quarterly performance reporting against those strategies and goals.
  • Develop, communicate and manage overall 3PL and carrier efficiencies initiatives, including rate reductions, engineering/specification changes to specific pallet configurations.
  • Manage and support the long-term development and the day-to-day activities of direct report Supply Chain Planners and analysts.
  • Lead and develop 9 direct reports across Planning & Logistics .

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience required; Business or Engineering degree with emphasis in Supply Chain Operations is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or relevant field.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related Science field, Master's Degree a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain and or Planning function
  • Experience in predictive analytics and modeling
  • Detail driven with strong analytical & organizational skills.
  • Experience creating and deploying strategy for an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills.
  • Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
