Director of Systems

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Director of Systems will be responsible for the continuity, resiliency, and resumability of product, infrastructure, and corporate technologies deployed to data centers, cloud environments, and corporate offices, as well as for remote use. Director of Systems will be responsible for the provisioning, diagnostics, administration, and operations of physical servers, virtual servers, storage appliances, network appliances, and other devices. Whereas the Director of Systems' focus will predominantly be with Linux-based technologies, proficiency in Windows and other technologies will be required. Director of Systems will be expected to achieve operational maturity through the development and implementation of policies, processes, procedures, and other standards. The incumbent must have a passion for technology and its internals, and always be interested in learning and growing.

Requirements

Technical Requirements:

• 6+ years’ experience and equivalent expertise in technical leadership and management
• 6+ years’ experience and equivalent expertise in 24x7 mission-critical operations
• Expertise in Linux administration and operations (Windows is a major plus)
• Proficiency in virtualization, containerization, or the like
• Proficiency in Bash and Python, Perl, Rust, or similar scripting
• Proficiency in network administration (Cisco is a major plus)
• Experience in database administration and interactions (SQL is a major plus)
• Experience in project management is a major plus

Estimated Annual base salary gross: $175K-200K + bonus eligibilityThe base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Sphere salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Sphere’s total compensation package for employees.
