We’re looking to expand our team across the board.
As the Director of Systems Engineering and Test of York Space Systems, you will manage the Systems and Test team, provide technical leadership, and drive the group’s execution across all York programs. You will be responsible for the department’s processes, staffing, performance metrics, organizational development, and budget. With relevant technical expertise and management experience, you will serve as a mentor for younger engineers and lead the team towards achieving its engineering milestones across all York programs. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive systems engineering, test, and launch execution across all of York’s active programs
  • Manage a diverse team of systems and test engineers. Ensure training and development, succession planning and team culture is conducive to a flourishing team.
  • Own load capacity planning across each group within the department. Ensure department staffing is appropriate and sustainable to meeting York’s current and future program needs.
  • Lead the development of processes, tools, and templates for the department in order to streamline efforts and maximize efficiency. Drive automation and continuous improvement for the department.
  • Ensure alignment of design, documentation, and execution across programs and product lines. Own and maintain systems and test best practices in line with York’s philosophy.
  • Own and maintain department performance metrics. Define department performance targets and implement plans to improve department performance in response to key performance indicators. 
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to department members in support of York programs
  • Collaborate with other functional group directors to improve York’s core products and processes.
  • Manage department annual budget.
  • Represent York externally as required. Supporting design reviews, proposal inputs and supplier engagement. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of spacecraft systems engineering, test engineering, or other relevant experience with a minimum of 10 years of technical leadership and people management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, extensive experience with customers and relationship management.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively within the organization and convey decisions, direction, results, and conclusions in a manner meaningful to the audience.
  • Demonstrate self-initiated work in a team environment with strong leadership skills.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in requirements definition, management, and verification.
  • Experience in integrated software / hardware verification and test.
  • Ability to obtains and maintain a security clearance.
