About XYTS:

XY Tax Solutions (XYTS) is different from your traditional CPA firm. Where CPA firms usually provide accounting/tax services to clients in their immediate area, we operate under our parent company, XY Planning Network (XYPN), which currently serves over 1500 fee-only financial advisors all across the country. XYPN offers a virtual community for new and established financial advisors who want to serve a younger clientele (Gen X and Gen Y) and provide its members with compliance services, business tools, and other service lines.

How does XYTS fit in? We offer outsourced tax services to the members of XY Planning Network, who in turn offer these services to their clients. This means we work with both the financial advisor and their client throughout the tax season to prepare their tax returns as well as identify areas of opportunity for tax savings. By taking the stress of filing taxes off of the client, we allow both the advisor and the client to focus on their relationship/financial goals, which ultimately helps the clients - to live their best lives.

About the Position:

As a Director of Tax for XY Tax Solutions (XYTS), you will work closely with the Senior Director of XYTS to execute the vision of this rapidly growing XYPN service line. You will act primarily as a relationship manager for advisors and will be responsible for managing the tax return preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and other entity returns with minimal supervision.

We’re on a mission to help financial planners successfully start, run, and grow their firms; the important work you do as a Director of Tax will further that mission.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Review and sign 600+ tax returns for individuals, trusts, and businesses

• Conduct technical tax research to address complex tax issues with the support of the tax team

• Host tax planning engagements to support financial advisors in their goal of providing comprehensive financial planning to their clients

• Nurture relationships with 100+ financial advisors and their tax clients

• Meet with financial advisors and their clients to cultivate relationships, build trust, and provide value

• Grow the service line through direct communication with advisors and their clients to determine the scope and cost of tax return preparation services

• Emcee semi-annual advisor-facing webinars to teach advisors aspects of tax law and present planning opportunities to help their clients

• Write minimum 2 technical tax blogs per year to share with current and prospective advisors

• Collaborate with the Senior Director of XYTS and the team to set quarterly goals and accomplish them

Status: Full-time (40-45 hours per week w/ flexible schedule off season, 60+ hours per week in season)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $119,310 - $128,750 (Depending on Experience)

What You’ll Bring to the Table

• Legally authorized to live and work in US

• Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field

• CPA or Enrolled Agent required

• 8+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns

• Tax preparation experience with Ultratax and other similar professional tax preparation software (Lacerte, Prosystems, Drake, etc.)

• Proficiency in QuickBooks

• A talent for simplifying complex tax law by explaining aspects of complex tax law

• The ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently

• Mastery in monitoring deadlines and simultaneously balancing many projects with assistance from our Operations team

• Enthusiastic about learning new software and tools to create task efficiencies and automate reports

• A never ending drive to deliver quality work with a high degree of accuracy

• Stellar verbal and written communication skills
