The Role:

The Director of Program Management is a key leader of the Software Engineering, Technology and Product Delivery functions within Linus Health.  The position reports to the CTO, and will drive execution, communication, and processes to achieve critical product delivery objectives for Linus Health.

Please note that we have an HQ in Boston but are a fully distributed team. Given we have product development team members in a number of time zones & locations, we have a strong preference for this person to be based in either EST or CST. This would be a remote position with occasional travel to the Boston based HQ. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship at this time.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the product development program management function as well as take a direct project management role on high priority projects.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and organizational support for the program plan by facilitating internal and external stakeholder management, as well as communicating updates to company and engineering leadership
  • Foster leadership, strategic thinking, and business acumen while setting high standards that drive alignment, collaboration, accountability and goal achievement within teams
  • Manage and integrate program plan and cross-functional deliverables  (e.g, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, identification of risks and barriers, identification of mitigation plans, etc)
  • Lead and support large agile teams via iterative scalable agile methodologies (e.g. SAFe) that balance roadmapping and planning with pure agile approaches.  For example, running and coordinating Program Increment Planning Events.
  • Execute and continuously accelerate release trains for smooth delivery of value to commercial stakeholders.
  • Partner with Development Management and Product Management to continuously drive processes and procedures towards smaller, more frequent, and lower risk, releases.
  • Construct artifacts for tracking programs which incorporate information from multiple, cross-functional projects
  • Identify and champion best practices in Program Management, including the use of dashboards, templates, tools and processes to drive efficiency, alignment and effective planning
  • Take on new projects that have multiple moving parts with unknown dependencies and drive them toward specification ultimately translating them into project plans that can be executed
  • Direct, lead and support the implementation of complex software project deliveries, from start to project completion
  • Work cross-functionally with internal product, data science, and software development teams to develop realistic project plans including milestones and timelines
  • Manage agile practices, running ceremonies and removing roadblocks to ensure tasks are completed within scheduled time frames
  • Recommend and leverage software tools and configuration to increase collaborative efficiency across all teams, especially within our remote-work environment.
  • Develop, track and monitor engineering metrics data for strategic planning, such as scrum and program Increment velocity.
  • Analyze and understand critical path activities and ensure cross-functional team members are aware of the interdependencies

About You:

Must Haves:

  • 10-15 + years of professional experience in a similar technical program or project management type role (ideally experience in a growth-stage startup)
  • 5+ years of industry related experience (healthcare, digital health, biotech, pharma, etc)
  • 3+ years management program managers, scrum masters, or product owners.
  • Practical experience with PMP and SAFe Agile (Certification is a bonus)
  • Significant experience with Atlassian suite of tools.  (Expert level workflow administration capabilities is a bonus)
  • Deep experience working closely with engineering teams and leadership as well as supporting and fostering collaboration across different departments
  • Experience providing progress & status updates directly to the executive team
  • Demonstrated success supporting and leading high-performing program management teams
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills including written, verbal and presentation, with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent complex deliveries in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, while flexible and comfortable with ambiguity

Nice To Have’s:

  • BS/BA degree in a relevant field

What We Offer:

  • As a brain health company, an opportunity to have a lasting impact on the way people and communities engage with brain and mental health, and even to affect the prognoses of people’s mental and brain health trajectory
  • A mission driven environment where all 110+(and counting) employees strive to exemplify our core values every day
  • Competitive compensation packages that include an annual discretionary target bonus incentive as well as valuable equity
  • Unlimited PTO -- We know this can work both ways, however our leadership team does an excellent job at encouraging people to take PTO
  • A sincere and deep appreciation for the importance of mental health: We have recently implemented a “monthly flex day” where employees are encouraged to take time away from work to rest, recharge & reset.
  • A peer-to-peer recognition program: Celebrating our employees’ hard work and success is in our DNA!
  • Employee Referral Incentive program
  • The base salary budgeted for this position is in the 165,000 - 190,000 (USD) range per year. The role will also include an annual discretionary target bonus based on performance as well as company equity. The final offer determined for a candidate who is hired into this position will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant skills, professional experience, and labor market conditions, etc.
