Current offices: Austin, Chicago, London, New York City, San Francisco.

About the opportunity

Ontra is seeking a Director, Total Rewards, reporting to our Chief People Officer. 

The role is a great opportunity to lead the People team’s efforts in the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an innovative Total Rewards function. What you’ll do

  • Drive Ontra’s Total Rewards philosophy, strategy and practices through effective thought leadership; ensure alignment with business growth goals and priorities
  • Ensure operational effectiveness in order to scale the team’s impact; build internal processes and systems to support what Ontra needs today and in the future
  • Provide expertise and guidance on:
    • Compensation: Understand market trends and the competitive landscape to help us enhance our compensation philosophy and practices; ensure pay equity across roles 
    • Benefits: Evaluate and select suppliers and partners, as well as lead the negotiation of fee structures and contracts
    • Wellness: Support holistic wellness programming 
    • Payroll: Support payroll execution globally 
  • Drive analytical rigor and deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing and future programs; establish and assess against key metrics including usage, engagement, and cost.
  • In time, build and develop an exceptional Total Rewards team, ensuring that they are effective partners across the business

What you’ll bring

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in people operations, with 3+ years’ experience leading and managing teams
  • Expertise: In depth knowledge of total rewards programs, including compensation (general, executive, and sales compensation, plus equity program design), benefits, and general human resources management
  • Global program management: Proven experience creating and managing innovative, compelling total rewards programs on a global scale in a fast-paced environment; skilled at interpreting business needs and making decisions based on emerging priorities as part of a large scale transformation
  • Analytics and systems thinking: Ability to translate data and trends into key insights and recommendations; approaches problems holistically and is mindful of the larger system in which they live
  • Collaboration: Partner effectively across relevant teams where work overlaps and requires coordination and support, leveraging influence and consulting skills as appropriate
  • Communication:  Effectively communicate key attributes of our total rewards programs to a variety of stakeholders, ranging from entry-level employees to board members, ensuring that our programs are understood by all and in line with our employer value proposition and reflective of our purpose and values

Pay transparency

Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: http://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.

Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.

In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
