Director of Valuation
Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director of Valuation will be responsible for the development of enterprise omnichannel customer value to be leveraged across MGM Resorts' North America portfolio of assets. In this newly created role, your primary goal will be to evaluate, recommend, and enable new customer valuation methods to drive increased visitation and share of wallet. This position will serve as the subject matter expert in consumer behavior, identifying visitation and spend patterns, and using demographic data to enable a holistic customer value that will keep patrons engaged across the entire spectrum of the customer lifecycle. The Director of Valuation will be a core influencer within the organization that works across various LOBs to drive change and consensus on standards for valuation methodology and design. This individual will support a world class Commercial Strategy and Analytics team, help define its required technology and toolset, identify areas of opportunities, efficiencies, and best practices.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create test & learn roadmap, including back testing and health monitoring of customer segments; review findings and make recommendations to Corporate and Property Marketing partners.
- Be a leader within the Analytics organization with skills ranging from data science and statistics to analytical generalists.
- Collaborate with business leads and establish deep understanding of their needs to inform valuation approach.
- Deeply analytical thought leader that can inform the build of customer value with understanding of impact to business / customer P&L.
- Work closely with Data and Product teams to establish business requirements to industrialize the customer value model / enable valuation engine.
- End-to-end ownership of enterprise customer valuation across multiple lines of business (land-based gaming, online gaming, and non-gaming activity).
- Partner with IT and other departments to ensure appropriate data collection and integrity.
- Core influencer that partners with Corporate and Property entities to drive consensus.
- Translate business needs downstream to Data Science and Product teams.
- Persuade cross-functional audiences and tailor material for varying levels of technical understanding.
- Other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering or other related field; or equivalent experience.
- 4 + years of experience in relevant subject area expertise (e.g., industry or function)
- Experience in the build of customer lifetime value model (building, iterating, refining, or maintaining).
- Hands-on experience working with a variety of analytic processes and techniques, customer behavior analysis & insight development, measurement methodologies, and statistical hypothesis testing.
- Experience with Digital (Adobe, Google, etc.)
- Experience driving change in a large organization.
- Experience in project management.
PREFERRED:
- Master's degree in Marketing, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7 + years of experience in relevant subject area expertise (e.g., industry or function)
- Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar
- Experience in casino and hospitality marketing.
- Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Gaming license(s) in applicable jurisdictions.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong problem-solving skills, including data structuring, quantitative reasoning, synthesis, and implications development.
- Ability to self-manage while consistently exercising good judgment and maturity.
- Ability to appropriately manage confidential departmental and corporate information.
- Experience in working with all levels of management, including Senior Executives.
- Highly developed organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting specific organization goals.
- Ability to work in a high-stress, fast paced environment managing multiple projects and personnel simultaneously.
- Must possess ability to prioritize conflicting duties and maintain timeline integrity for projects and tasks.
- Must possess excellent written, verbal, and public presentation communication skills and demonstrate ability to resolve all situations in a professional manner.
- Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Must have initiative and strive for continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to participate in implementing innovative ideas, projects, and business solutions.
