This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Operations | Poppy & Peonies based in Canada.
As Director of Operations, you will lead and scale the operational foundation of a rapidly growing consumer brand, ensuring seamless execution across supply chain, inventory management, fulfillment, and logistics. This role plays a critical part in supporting growth across Canada and the United States while maintaining exceptional customer experiences and operational excellence. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, you will transform ambitious growth plans into scalable operational strategies. You will oversee key partnerships, optimize systems and processes, and build the infrastructure needed to support new sales channels, regional expansion, and increasing demand. Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end operational strategy across supply chain, logistics, inventory management, fulfillment, and distribution activities throughout Canada and the United States.
- Develop scalable inbound transportation and logistics solutions while managing relationships with freight forwarders and external logistics providers.
- Oversee the performance of third-party fulfillment partners, ensuring service levels, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction standards are consistently achieved.
- Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of fulfillment challenges, shipping delays, inventory discrepancies, and operational bottlenecks.
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs, including fulfillment accuracy, shipping performance, return rates, and transportation costs, providing regular insights to leadership.
- Partner closely with Finance to manage operational budgets, freight spending, cost analysis, and forecasting initiatives.
- Lead process optimization projects, improve operational systems and tools, maintain standard operating procedures, and identify opportunities to enhance speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
- Support business growth initiatives, including new market expansion, sales channel launches, warehouse transitions, and onboarding of new logistics partners.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Operations team while fostering collaboration across Product, Marketing, Finance, and Commercial functions.
- Ensure operational readiness for peak periods through effective forecasting, capacity planning, staffing strategies, and contingency planning.
- 7–10 years of experience in eCommerce, direct-to-consumer operations, logistics, fulfillment, supply chain management, or related operational leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success managing third-party logistics providers and complex fulfillment networks within high-growth environments.
- Strong understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, transportation management, and operational performance measurement.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Marketing, and other business stakeholders to support company-wide objectives.
- Proficiency with order management systems (OMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and advanced Excel or Google Sheets capabilities.
- Proven track record of leading operational improvement initiatives that delivered measurable gains in efficiency, accuracy, scalability, or cost reduction.
- Experience planning and executing operational strategies during peak demand periods, including workforce planning and carrier management.
- Familiarity with cross-border operations between Canada and the United States; experience with customs, duties, tariffs, and import processes is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret and communicate operational metrics effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for building structure and driving continuous improvement.
- Annual salary ranging from $125,000 to $175,000.
