Job Description

F&G is hiring for a Director, Owned Distribution. This position will lead development of the financial plan and financial reporting for the Owned Distribution segment of the Retail Business Unit at F&G. 

This position reports directly to the SVP, Owned Distribution Product and Planning and will work closely with F&G finance, IT and other shared services, and partner distribution entities (PDE) to build and implement the Owned Distribution financial plan and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.  

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for Owned Distribution segment
  • Report to management on the financial health of the business segment, including evaluating opportunities to reduce costs and maximize profits
  • Keep up to date with accounting regulations and guidance and ensure Owned Distribution is in compliance with guidance

Integration

  • Support financial due diligence process for any potential M&A opportunities for Owned Distribution segment
  • Support PDE to transition from cash to GAAP accounting and evaluate data and process needs to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting for PDE and Owned Distribution Segment
  • Work with F&G FP&A, Treasury, Financial Reporting (Statutory and GAAP), Tax and Audit to ensure all F&G financial reporting needs are met for all PDE
  • Work with F&G Internal Audit & Financial Controls to implement a control framework around the financial reporting process from PDE to Owned Distribution Segment financial reporting
  • Provide distribution company GAAP accounting expertise for financial reporting, accounting transition and mergers & acquisition work to ensure accurate accounting policies and processes are established
  • Work with F&G Accounting and IT departments along with PDE to ensure proper financial accounting data flow
  • Drive for continued process improvements through use of technology to drive automation and efficiencies for flexible, scalable and accurate processes

Financial Planning

  • Lead efficient, comprehensive process for developing financial projections and budget 
  • Work with PDE to develop GAAP projections and oversee/maintain the process for the production and distribution of aggregated GAAP projections and analysis across all PDE, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements 
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of all key business performance drivers and be able to communicate to Management Committee challenges, risks and opportunities related to the financial plan
  • Understand expense drivers for the Owned Distribution Segment as well as for each PDE and represent projected expenses accurately in the plan
  • Drive coordination and partnership across the key stakeholders of the financial plan process.  Serve as liaison between multiple teams (PDE and F&G) responsible for input, outputs, and analytics of the financial plan, regarding end-to-end process
  • Develop and manage the plan timelines and scheduling, and hold providers of plan deliverables accountable across the business and FP&A 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required
  • 8+ years’ operations experience in life insurance and annuity company and/or life insurance and annuity distribution company required
  • Experience in financial plan preparation preferred
  • Experience with M&A financial due diligence preferred
  • Experience in independent life insurance and annuity distribution (IMO) financial reporting (Statutory and GAAP) required
  • Experience in life insurance and annuity company financial reporting preferred
  • Knowledge of life insurance and annuity products preferred
  • Experience in end-to-end process design, project/product management/ownership preferred
  • Experience with projections, general ledgers, databases and report writing preferred
  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Limited travel required (<5%)
